Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You'd imagine it will be enabled straight off.

The HG658c has indeed 802.11n with mimo but you need 802.11n with mimo on the client side too....

Have a client (one!) with 802.11n but still no joy!. The setup on the router seems to be b or g or b/g or b/g/n (my setting). Never seems to connect with the n client (even if all others are off) at over 50/60 Mb.

Maybe could go to 60Mbit, but hold on a while for vectoring if it's not enabled and you definitely will.

What about the cabinets constructed in the future, do you know how long it will take for vectoring to be enabled when they go live?

    Enabled on install

is vectoring enabled in drogheda? my isp is magnet am on the fatpipe 70mb package but only get 50mb due to distance from cab.

the technicolor modem they send out does not tell you the total attainable net data rate like the eircom ones do so ive no idea myself

line stats are the same as they where on install 4-5 months ago

Bad news: Vectoring isn't enabled because your downstream noise margin is low.
Good news: A line attenuation of 14dB means your line can handle faster profile and should achieve 100Mb when vectoring is enabled.
Bad news: Your noise margin may be too low for a 70Mb profile, your line could handle 60Mb.
Bad news: Your ISP is Magnet.

Just ring 'em and ask can your line be bumped to a faster profile.

    with those stats

    60/20mb should be possible
70/20mb if there is no line faults

Got my profile changed again there

    lads,

I was switched to a 100/20 profile earlier this week as vectoring was enabled om my line. I am getting speeds of 90 / 18 on a fixed line but only 30/17 on wireless ( on 3 different devices )Do you think that the router just isnt capable of anything higher wirelessy and do i need to think about changing it for something a bit better ?

wireless n is limited to max 50mb through put

wireless g is limited to max 27mb through put

add just one wireless g device on your network and all wireless devices run at wireless g speeds

They have to have. If vectoring was enabled and magnet CPE wasnt compliant all their customers would shut off.

It may be the case that their original FW had vectoring support so an update was never required.

Will have to escalate further, as KN networks found no issues with the line.

Ditto on the Speedtests but the profile change has only been applied in the last half hour. The bandwidth to the cabinet seems to have changed but the old 50Mb/s profile still applies beyond it. (Or that's how it looks at the moment.)

Took a while but now operating at 70/20.

Approx 200m from cabinet. Would like the downstream uped a bit if possible (seems to be just about able to handle a decent bump in speed) have eVision also (dunno if that affects the max speed they'll give you).

Does any know when the providers (Vodafone, Eircom, Digiweb, Magnet etc.) will start advertising the vectored speeds? IE up to 100Mb. Thanks.

Edit: Was meant to post this to the Vectoring thread.

Is this odd? The fact that the attainable upstream is 25 but downstream only 49. It has always shown around this reading as far as I remember since I got fibre last October. I'm on the 50/15 service. Dundalk has not been vectored yet or at least nobody has posted any results. I spoke to a KN guy last week in my estate who said Dundalk is vectored.

I don't think Dundalk has been vectored yet. My attainable speed has always been 29/90 since I got efibre and still is that figure today. No change in my SNR either.

Your noise margin is below 6db - that's why your attainable speed is suffering. Something wrong on your line.

Just called them there, and allegedly I've to wait for my exchange to get upgraded before getting a max 92mbps line. (currently onj the 70/20 profile, but this is the max speed they'll give me due to eVision - I smell shenanigans.)

Grr. No idea when that will be.

    Yep, that was me.

Just had an engineer out to have a look at a sync issue I've been having. He replaced some of the old cable in my house, and I've gained a bit on my SNR margin. This is the highest attainable I've seen yet:

I used different speedtest servers, large iso from heanet, etc. Max I can get is around 47/48. From Tech support and KN point of view, I should be getting the 80 no problem, but no joy. Profile was set to 70/20 but no difference. Issue being looked into at the moment, let's see what the morning brings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,401 ✭✭✭Nonoperational

It can't be an issue with your line or socket etc though if you are syncing at 80Mbits... Odd. The max you're getting from heanet is 5.5MB/s or so is it?

You may have stated this but you are obviously testing with a wired ethernet connection straight to the main router yes?

There are differences between stats yesterday and today.
SNR is raised as are attainables. There is a marked increase in Actual INP.
Input Noise Protection was at 2/2 yesterday. It's now 29/30. Stats yesterday almost mirror those when I first signed on with an initial 60/20 profile. My profile is now 85/20 and stable. Improved pings today as well.

11ms very nice, when I reset the line my downstream is set to fast for a few minutes before going to 4ms, very odd, guess time will tell...

My CRC errors are way up too. Can anyone explain what's going on? SNR gone from 6 to 10 but attainable rate gone down from 60 to 50ish and CRC errors increased!

Only positive is ping gone from 24 to 11.

Profile is 17a and inp is 29 in both directions. What exactly does this mean?

    Cheers.

It can't be an issue with your line or socket etc though if you are syncing at 80Mbits... Odd. The max you're getting from heanet is 5.5MB/s or so is it?

You may have stated this but you are obviously testing with a wired ethernet connection straight to the main router yes?

Yes, Gigabit connection, multiple pcs to rule out that factor. Heanet downloads hit a wall at around 5.3MB/s, so it's on part with speedtests.

There was an issue when the line was first installed , download was capping at 11/12 mb/s, someone was sent to the cabinet and sort out the port, not sure if swapped to different port.

As a reference, those stats are after a cat 5 clean run of about 100 meters was put in place from the entry point, where max attainable speeds come up at 130/40.

No drops, as the modem is bridged to a firewall ( Sophos UTM with an i5 , dual gigabit NIC and 4 gb of ram), once a link goes down it fires up a warning, an external monitoring service to both the static ip and web address is clean and finally, an internal server is pinging a list of addresses every 15 seconds and the only time packets drop is when eircom modem is restarted for testing.

Some people have 30Mb attainable on their upload. I wonder will Eircom ever allow an update that fast?

A few days ago I posted my stats which showed downstream SNR as 5.8 which I realise now was bad. I contacted Eircom who said there was a problem and reduced my profile from 50/15 to 40/10. The rep couldn't believe that I was not having constant dropouts, but I never experienced any problem. The change moved the SNR to 6.3 immediately and then last night the service went off. When I tried it again this morning the SNR is up to 8.3. Which is obviously better but I see other people with a lot higher. I am just wondering will I get the best out of vectoring when it comes to Dundalk, with 8.3.

New stats below and speedtest which is giving 0 ms ping. Got that twice on Enniskillen and 9 ms twice on Dublin server.

Enniskillen is borked, dont trust the latency.

I'm very happy with it. It's a huge improvement on sky's paltry offering...
My Router rebooted earlier today. Attainable rate has dropped significantly.
