Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

wondering does anyone know where I can see the price of milk futures

liquid milk is v dear at the min so I reckon futures might be cheap

one way of telling what happens between future prices and liquid milk price is to analyse the history

    http://www.cmegroup.com/trading/agricultural/dairy/class-iv-milk_contract_specifications.html

    http://www.cmegroup.com/trading/agricultural/dairy/class-iii-milk_contract_specifications.html

these are the only milk futures i can see.

Click on the 'Quotes' tab to see (relatively) live prices.

Not sure how much of a correlation there is between price of the future vs price in the shop.

Surely the imminent removal of milk quotas will have a much more dramatic impact than what might be gleaned from any historical analysis?

price at farm gate rather than shop price is what this would be about

wondering what the milk futures price was in 2009 when it was 19c per litre at the farm gate and what it is now when the price is 37c a litre at the farm gate

quotas with regard to this country I don't know, not so sure it will have a huge impact TBH, if we continue to get moonsoon summers it most certainly will have no impact

the eastern block must be thinking all their christmases have come together with quota removal and a high milk price

Ireland's big advantage is that the former CO-OPs now global PLC's are hugely innovative in major sectors where milk is used as raw material for added value production, eg cheese, spreads, fats, baby formula etc etc.

One can hardly buy fresh milk behind the Iron curtain, so I doubt Glanbia, Donegal Creameries etc need be too concerned with any former commie con devs ? The recent horse meat scandal has also dealt a major credibility blow to sourcing of food product/ingredients in east euro.

    Why do you believe otherwise?
