Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This reminds me of watching Ireland in the poorest of the Kidney era. A team of good players sent out to play a game without one clue as to how to go about beating the opposition.

    ACT vgood at breakdown

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,863 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

Well I think this half answers the heaslip v faleteau debate.
Where is the great work rate, the carries, the rucking?

  • Registered Users Posts: 817 ✭✭✭Chabals Beard

I'd say Zebo, Murray and Hibbard are pretty happy right about now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,772 ✭✭✭toomevara

Rory self-destructing here...playing himself out of contention for the test team. Poor display from the Lions so far, v disjointed. Half backs misfiring and defensively week....esp wade, looks really lightweight off the ball.

Bench to be emptied very soon or this one is gone.

My god I'm so fed up with Richie Gray. Please send him home

Shame that the likes of D Ryan and Jim Hamilton were omitted for him. Absolutely useless

    Nohesion.

    The opposite of cohesion.

Yeah players not playing are getting the good end of the stick here. Murray, Zebo and Hibbard.

this is one of those games where everybody has looked crap-not one lions player has stood out. even the great SOB making errors.

    Another let off.
This has been a bore so far.

    Not this one, 8-0

Honestly, did you think he was at all in contention for the test team going into today?

Yeah, in fairness tho Gatland said that he doesn't mind losing this game for the sake for the 1st test... So I don't know, he may want to bubble wrap certain players that are on the bench.

    Rory best line out

You'd have to say ACT good value for their 8 points...bit of work to be done at HT methinks...

Second best in every department. It depends on how badly Gatland wants this one. If he does, we will see a lot of changes.

He's playing himself out of contention for an Ireland starting place at this rate

this is a poor lions performance,
    giving away to many frees

    Has Barrit touched the ball?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,308 ✭✭✭✭.ak

SOB playing well with ball in hand, making yards and has had some lovely touches. He doesn't seem to be using his clear outs tho.

Game really looks like everyone's been told "You have a chance, but only if you do it all yourself".

Everyone trying things that aren't on, mis reading each other etc.

    Terrible structure to the game.

Aint gona beat that defence with piss slow ball like that

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,863 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

Very lucky penalty there to the lions

If anyone wants a lesson in how not to clean a ruck take a look at Richie Gray

I know you're saying that somewhat tongue in cheek but this is the sort of tour that will cause him long term damage in terms of the mental aspect of his game.

2nd rate performance from the pack tonight. Don't think any of those guys will be involved on Saturday.

Faletau is actually having a decent game in fairness, but just decent.

Dunno, carrying well but his famed workrate is nowhere to be seen

He seems to be working with sob at the break down, but was caught earlier isolated and have away penalty.

Has he done anything of note?

its going to be a good Second half.

Brumbies hard done by there, we're almost suffering when we get some go forward because our support is so disorganised they're getting isolated ridiculously easily.

One thing this game has done is show Warburtons performance last week in a new light. Relative to today, against similar ish standard opposition, you'd have to upgrade his efforts last week.

Croft - Warbs - Heaslip are safe for the 1st Test.

Zebo nothing to fear from Wade (if North is out).

Kearney feeling his way back to top form. Will be a huge asset in the Tour. Notwithstanding the excellent Halfpenny, i'm convinced the coaching staff would like Kearney at FB and 1/2p wing saturday. Rob would be long gone home if they didn't feel he had a big part to play.

Interesting half time analysis to come. Who will Sky blame the most?

looks like Bernard Jackman got a good 1 in Kimlin for Grenoble

He woke up with about 10 minutes to go and started working very hard. Before that he was anonymous.

I do feel bad for the backs because they have all literally stepped off a plane for this!

He started well. Same thing could be said of SOB. Players who have been on form are being made to look bad here. Tipuric is arguably the only one who has looked good in that half.

I don't think any of last weekends XV will be overly worried for the starting place.

Kearney's been useful but Halfpenny is absolutely nailed on

Trying hard but getting nowhere. Hasn't linked play at all. Lowest tackle count of the back row by a distance.

I loved the one where SOB was on the ground with the ball and Gray cleared out about 2 feet to the right of where SOB was.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Kearney is no where near Halfpenny. His defense has always been weak in his game. Halfpenny would put his head under a bus to make a tackle.

    this shouldn't be a surprise.

there has been no time for so many of this backline to get into the way Gatland wants the team to play. cohesion does not come automatically.

yes, some of the individuals have been brutal. Wade's non-tackle for the try for instance. Best's throwing. Evans unable to hit a ruck. Faleteau pretty invisible. Barritt being plain awful.

but cohesion helps most of that. Gatland has given this team very little chance.

Are these lads a little drunk or are my speakers slurring?

Sorry lads but NO lions players have played in any way well in the first half.

Doing your basic duties is not playing well...

I was of that opinion but the Lions have come out and said that if they knew flying out the extent of his injury, they'd have left him behind.
