List of Animal Shelters?

Hello all,

Do you know of a comprehensive list of animal shelters and pounds in the Leinster area? I have the main ones in my search, but I have discovered that there are lots of smaller ones that I may be missing out on.

I am in a race against time to find a non-shed youngish dog in the next 2 weeks. We had our heart set on a miniature schnauzer (my husband and son have allergies) but I am now having a major guilt attack about the amount of dogs in shelters that need a good home.

I am sneakily looking, as I know if I found the right dog before these puppies are born, my husband will cave!

While we don't allow linking to specific rescue groups as we can't be seen to be biased towards one or another, we have agreed recently that linking to "umbrella sites" i.e. sites that encompass lots together is ok.

Irishanimals.ie is worth checking out as you can search by region.

If you are going the rescue route, be aware that some have quite strict criteria and may require a homecheck before rscuing, so you may have to wait longer than 2 weeks.
