When a business is in liquidation but is still open to and trading is it just waiting to finish? Or does it mean there is a chance of it being taken over

    Hi

It depends. The company itself is finished but the liquidator could still be looking to sell on the business to an interested party as a going concern.

No. That would be the shareholders.

If a company is in liquidation, isn't the liquidator running the business as opposed to the former directors?

Yes. The former directors have no further function in the company. It is the liquidator who now takes over their role.
