I found out about this event while at Bloom.

We might take a trip down sometime over the weekend.:)

Yup! We'll be going. Want a new hydrangea. Last winter did for mine. There's a few little leaves and not much else! I also want some flat leaf parsley plants as mine are on their way out!

We'll be taking the dog as there's a Pet Expo there too.

If you are looking for a climbing shrub...then what about an evergreen Hydrangea........Hydrangea Seemanii

Self clinging/self supporting, evergreen glossy leaves and lovely scented white flowers from late June onwards.:)

Oh, they look lovely! But I want one for the patio. Got the original ones there too. White one's still going strong, but yet to flower. My beautiful bluey purple one went to the dogs due to the bloody weather!

So is it worth the trip down from Dublin to this Mallow garden show?

This will be our 1st time to go to this event.

Allways gone to Bloom each year, but yet to venture down to Cork for a garden show.

I think so. I've never been to Bloom, but would assume Mallow will be a smaller event. We always go and I always find good quality plants there. The purse takes a bit of a beating with all the shopping we do, but hey! A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!! :D

I like the mallow garden show. Been every other year since it started in the 90's. visitor numbers are around 50,000 over the few days.

What might put me off is the forcast for tomorrow in Cork. Like any outdoor event, always feels a bit nicer on a sunny day.

Yeah - I'm keeping an eye on the weather too! Given the forecast for the next two days, somehow I don't think we'll be going...:(

Bit of rain never hurt no one.

Nothing a golf umbrella cant sort out...:)

Went there today with the missus who's into gardening. Both of us thought it was overpriced at 10 euro entry, basically a shop where you pay for entry!

Can you throw up some pics?

Many trade stands displaying there and any plants/flowers on sale??

In your opinion......Would it have been worth the trip from Dublin down to it.

    Thanks.:)

Was thinking of taking the trip myself but the weather forecast is bad -- already a gale here - so having read the accounts here might give it a miss for this year.
Thanks for all of the info folks.

The show gardens were lovely as usual. I took a load of pix and will try to put some up later.

There were a few pet shows and the Pug Appreciation Society were there with some lovely pugs. But the actual Pet Expo was a bit of a let down, I'm afraid. Not many stalls there.

    Get well soon! :D

Safe journey to anyone traveling to Mallow today.

Very windy and wet here in Dublin at the moment.

Im looking out the living room window at the moment, and the tops of our multi-stem birch tree and our thalictrums are fairly sideways at the moment, from the strong winds.

So a golf umbrella will be of feck all use today then....:pac::pac::D

    Be safe all.:)

The mop man was there. He gives an impressive demo about how his mops could dry up all the water in Cambodia to a captive audience who part with their money for a mop as if they were brain washed into buying. They are always down to the last few with an artic load behind them  Nearly every person there bought a mop, they will be in the bin after the first use. I have seen these gangsters at many events.

Well I was well enough to travel today.

But instead of the Mallow Garden Show,we went to The National Horse Stud and Japanese Gardens in Kildare.

We had a fantastic time there.:D

Will throw up a few pics later on.:)

A couple of pix from Mallow. They're not very good, I'm afraid as they were taken with the phone, but here goes...

Very nice! Looks as though it might be worth a drive up from Cork, some day.

Its a great place to visit.....just outside Newbridge,Kildare.

Some of the stud horses are currently insured for 60 and 80 million dollars...:eek::D

The guided tour is well worth it too.:)

The Japanese gardens are absolutely beautifull and the winding pathway of life is very fun and enjoyable for both adults and kids too.

You cross through and over lots of ponds, streams and waterfalls to get from the birth stage to the death stage.

Very well thought out and built.:)

Japanese Tea House in the middle of the gardens to sit in and ponder over life...:pac:

Flowers and trees are beautifull to look at.:D

Good news, you can indeed bring the pet dog along with you...as long as its on a leash at all times.:)

If the dog does a poo, then you must naturally clean it up and put it in the bins provided.

Thats according to the receptionist down there.
