How safe are these tyres?

They are 5 years old and are original to the car.

Both are on the back and are in the same condition.

The front ones were replaced last year and are fine.

Won't pass nct if 6 years old. All them michlans seem to crack like that. If it was me I would change for peace of mind. A blowout is no fun

The cracks are dangerous and sign that the tyre is breaking up. Change them.

Age is advisory not a fail. Cracks like that are a fail.

Yeah as said nct will only advise to change them if they are +6. I've passed with ancient tires in good condition before.

    Those will fail though:
NCT manual, page 60 "(a) any cut or break in the fabric."

Thanks for the replies. The car passed its nct last year on these tyres and I hadn't replaced the front ones at the time of the nct.

Regardless. I will be replacing them ASAP.
