Car seat leather repair

    Hi,

One of my family just tore a hole in the leather of my new car. Devastated!
I'm wondering how much it would cost me to get this fixed.
I see some leather repair kits but I don't want to make it worse by doing it myself. If it doesn't cost too much I'd bring it in to get it repaired.

I'm living in North Wicklow so any recommendations for people who might do this would be great.

    Thanks!

If you could post a picture of the damage it could help. I work in Newbridge, Co. Kildare and when I'm out for a walk at lunch I pass an upholstery place that says it repairs leather seats too. Can get the name if you want.

Is it a new car or just new to you?

I'd take it back if its a new car

Good idea - I'll try and upload a photo. I never thought of just an ordinary upholstery place. There's one in my local town here. It might be worth calling in to see if they'll do cars.
Newbridge is a bit far for me to get to I'm afraid. Thanks!

The local BMW/mini dealer told me they use these guys:

I have not used them myself (yet).

They did some pre purchase paintwork on a Golf I bought from Karmann VW a few months back, and I wouldn't recommend their work on the basis of it to be honest.

Nolan Autocare and Cartronics in Santry both specialise in leather interiors, and I'd be going to either of them if I needed a repair done.

Oh - thanks for that - I just called them to get a quote. I'll give Cartonics a call now too. Thanks.

    +1 for Nolan Autocare.

Not likely to be cheap, but will be top notch work.

Yeah their website says repairs are from 100 to 200. It feels like a lot for a really small tear. I'll give them a call anyway to check. Thanks a lot for the link!

A small tear on a single panel is just as much work as a large tear on a single panel. Still got to remove the whole seat cover from the seat - possibly even the seat from the car.

I'm doing a repair on some tears in my brothers interior - it can be done without removing the panel or the seat. It's basically glued, filled and painted - but not sure I'd do that on a relatively new car / interior. I'd be certain that's the approach trimtech would take.

Thanks - I just called Nolans and they'd take the whole seat out. After buying the car I don't have much cash left so a cover-up job would do me fine until I'm able to get it done properly.
