To send a parcel from Ireland to England with PM ,any idea how long it takes roughly?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 252 ✭✭rusty999

Not sure what the answer to your question is but maybe someone else will chime in. My understanding of Parcel Motel is that its good for buying stuff from Uk but not sure if it works the other way round. The advantage of using it to buy in Uk is that some sites do not ship to anything other than a registered UK address which includes Northern Ireland. So, you use Parcel Motels northern Ireland address when you buy and they ship it down to your local Pm depot in the south for 3.99 for smaller packages and 10 euro for larger items. Just use your post office if your sending stuff over to Uk--its easier.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I got it wrong

same as any courier plus a day or so for the collection from your pm mailbox. Call them, they are very helpful on the phone I find.

How do you access your pm mailbox? Do they give you a code ?
So, I assume you book your package by calling them on the phone and paying in the usual way. They give you a code and you take the package into your mailbox ?
Thats the only way I could see it working but please correct me if its different to above.

I use Parcel 2 Go and they collect at the door which I find easier but to be honest I didnt know until I saw this post that you could send stuff as well with Parcel Motel.

Do you mean sending a parcel with PM?
You book it online, select the sizes of your parcel, give destination address, on next page will show how much it's, if you confirm you will be able to print level to attach to parcel, after you will drop to your selected parcel motel (you scan barcode to open your allocated space in motel)

Parcel2go do a collection from home from selected courier.
Parcel Connect same as PM but you drop to local shop.

Hi All. Just a small query. Has anyone ever had a cancelled status for parcel motel?

If so, what caused it and how can this be resolved. Thank you in advance.

I had it once. Parcel appeared, cancelled after a while, and after that (couple of hours AFAIR) appeared again as another item on a list, and delivered to chosen motel day after.

I guess they just scanned the same parcel twice.

When you are paying with Paypal you should be able to add the PM address on the address you select the shipping to address. If it's an Ebay purchase you can add the PM address to the Postage addresses under My Ebay, Account, Addresses.

does the registration text take long to come through? kind of need it quickly as i want to get a phone but have a 20 hour limit?

i put my address down for my purchase and it looks like this

    full name
    full name, PM****** Parcel Motel
    1A McKinney Road
    Newtownabbey, Co Antrim, BT36 4PE
    United Kingdom

will that be ok? once it get delivered to there, it gets sent to my nearest pm kiosk, and when i remove it it removes the money from my balance?

The money is taken when the parcel arrives to their depot and by the time it comes to your local locker they have already charged you.

Looks like my parcel's lost by PM. Tracking number says delivered on 8th of November, no trace on my PM account so far. Mailed them today giving all details I got from seller, including url to ebay listing I bought the item from. Finally got the answer
[...] I've passed all the details down to our warhouse to get them to look for it.

We'll let you know once its been located. [...]
    I wonder if located. :P

Need to pick up stuff from "the van" and instructions were supposed to be sent by email.
    Didnt get that.

But what do they need in order to hand over your parcel?
    ID, i suppose.
    PM ID and tracking number?

Edit: Never mind. PM ID and name was enough.

I hope you dont mind me asking, did you need official ID like photo ID or do you mean that you needed your parcel motel id number (also known a the PM ID, it seems).

Just asking because I have used parcel motel for the 1st time for a couple of orders from a site where I usually get direct delivery under my nickname, but if Ive to show official i.d to collect my order from parcel motel, i might run into problem as obviously my nickname that i used for the orders won't match the name on my official i.d cards :(

    No official ID whatsoever.
But my real name was on the parcel

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone can help. It used to be the case once you receive your text you have 48 hours to collect it. I received a text yesterday morning and was charged 3.95. I received a reminder this morning that the parcel will expire in 24 hours and was charged another 3.95. Has the collection time been reduced to 24 hours? I found no mention of this in their website.

they may have reduced it but have no right to. I will be having a chat with them about the service I received in the new year when things have calmed down.

The address should be in your Virtual Address

    should looke like below

    Your Name
    Your ID
    Fastway NI East Depot
    Unit 3B Norfill Business Park
    Randalstown Road
    BT41 4LD
    Antrim

Didn't know about these guys until I read this post. Thanks! Much closer to home :D
When I signed up I noticed that in the email they send out (Subject: "Collect Registration Details") there is no mention of a postcode. However it is included in the "virtual address" link on their site.

Seems to be a strange omission...

    Merry Christmas!

I had 2 amazon orders sent to the Parcel Motel northern ireland depot and the first was delivered to the last tuesday. When I log in to P.M website it still says ''you have not yet had any parcels checked in to Parcel Motel''.
Would it be delayed becaue of Christmas, or should I be concerned?
I'm not necessarily expecting to have recieved them yet, but I thought there's be an online record of their arrival at the n.i depot at least?

I never used parcel motel before so im just wondering can U use the Northern Ireland address to have items delivered if the website ur ordering from says "mainland Uk deliveries only?"

Yes, Basically it's 3.50 for each leg of the Journey. if you order something from the uk use the NI address as it's considered delivery in the uk. If it's free delivery in the uk you only pay 3.50 once. as the first leg is free within the uk. 3.50 from NI to wherever you live.
Your item will be delivered to your nearest PM site which are mostly located in Garage forecourts.
Any large items are delivered to their warehouse in Finglas, just off the M50.
    Where you can collect.
    I hope this helps.

If it's not free delivery but much lower delivery costs in the U.K, which is likely why you'd use Parcel Motel, you're paying the U.K delivery charge to the seller at the time of placing the order with them. So Parcel Motel can only charge you for the leg of the journey between their Antrim depot and your local depot. I can't see any situation where P.M could be charging you more than 3.50?

In fact I think it's something like 3.95 now..

PM don't log parcels on to their system until they reach Dublin. It's a major flaw in their system.

Wait, did you try to send it directly to a PM in Ballymakinney? Or to their sorting depot in Newtownabbey or Finglas?

Because if you tried to send it to Ballymakinney, it's possible it ended up in the shop the PM is attached to. If that's what you did, and it's not there, then it could be anywhere. All deliveries are supposed to be addressed to one of the two sorting offices in Antrim or Dublin, not the actual PM it's going to end up at

Sent to the same address I send all my parcels to. They've acknowledged that it was delivered to the Parcel Motel Depot. They just can't find it

That's not good. Mine were delivered by Amazon to PM last Tues but PM have checked and they say they don't have them. The Amazon tracking facility clearly say they got the delivery.PM told me that the parcel might be there in their warehouse next week, that doesnt sound right if Amazon have recorded the order as already delivered to PM lat Tuesday.

There's supposed to be up to 100 euro insurance cover when you use PM.
Have you thought about claiming for your vanished order?

Exact same issue here 2 parcels confirmed signed for by pm on the 19th and still no sign.
Cs not very helpful just been told they haven't been delivered to pm when clearly they have

I have a package that is showing it has been delivered on the Amazon tracker. It is up the North in their depot. It's been like that two days, I'm not worried about it yet. Does anyone know when they start delivering again?

My parcel still in transit since Dec 18th so don't get your hopes up. Rang 3 times over the Xmas. Was promised a call back on two occasions but am still waiting. Submitted two support requests which have also fallen on deaf ears. Am seriously pissed off with the chancers. They had no problem pre charging me but not a dicky bird since.

Do you mind me asking where does it say in transit? The reason I ask is that I now have two parcels with them, I have checked the tracking details, and there's still no sign of it on their system. Should I get in contact or give them a couple of days?

Just logged back on to their site. One of them in showing up but it says it is an oversize package. I don't know how a coat can be oversied. Charged me €7 for it. Would have been better to get it by post.

I never really had any bad experiences with Parcel Motel over the Christmas period. Package took like one extra day to deliver up to the north which I guess wasn't too bad all things considered. They also dropped a package off one day after Christmas which I was very surprised about.

If you are unhappy, call customer services up and they will most likely give you a free stay as a gesture of goodwill :)
