Woah, woah, woah. First of all, it has not started yet. This is just a thread for people to talk about the deals, what they want to see discounted, and all the joy and tears a sale brings with it.

MitchKoobski highlighted this in another thread. The key statement being:
Making trading cards available to all Steam users is a step towards an event we think everyone can be excited about...

So, it looks like June 26th/27th is the key date this time round.

    Obligatory pic: 1309632238850.png

    Obligatory video:

Personally, I wanna see a decent discount on the Borderlands 2 Season Pass or DLC, Far Cry Blood Dragon, BLOPS2 and Torchlight II.

So Boards.ie, prepare your wallets, get the lube out, and ready the tissue, hopefully it will be a good one!

Christ you almost gave my wallet a heart attack.

The one thing I really want to see discounted is Gamemaker but I'd also like some other development tools to be discounted as well. That's what I'll be saving my money for.

    Nooooooooooooooo

It'll be June 27th at the earliest, always starts on the Thursday.

But I also remember thinking it was coming for two weeks last year and then it took two weeks longer.

I'd love to nab RPGMaker on the cheap.

Torchlight 2, given that I've gotten addicted to Torchlight 1.
Trials Evolution Gold Edition is sitting in my cart as it is. I'm just trying to restrain myself from paying full price to see if it's reduced.

Can't remember, but do you think they might include games that are still in Beta? I've been eyeing up War For The Overworld ever since it was greenlit.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,578 ✭✭✭EoinHef

I really want to get Skyrim dlc, paid full price for the game and then a month later the legendary edition came out:(
So im definitely not paying full price for dlc.

Like op id like Borderlands 2 season pass and dlc aswell.
Anybody reckon the dayz standalone alpha coud get a discount or will it be out in time?
    That would be sweet!!

Yeah, with the Greenlight and Early Access services recently launched, it will be interesting to see if Valve run some sort of campaign to bring discounts to these titles.

Also, I reckon you are right Mitch. Sales normally start on a Thursday and I think they will give themselves a day to be ready for problems relating to the Trading Cards coming out of Beta before launching a sale. Both at the same time could be a disaster for the servers.

I bought a €20 voucher so my wallet wont take the full hit from the firepower of a fully armed and operational battle steam sale.

I have enough of a backlog to get me to the next sale (if i finish 1 game a week) for over a year so hopefully this year will be easy on me. Taking a few hits from the gog sale to get myself warmed up. Skyrim dlc or maybe legendary edition (depends which is cheaper) will be bought and then any games for less than 5 euro that take my interest. Want torchlight 2 and borderlands 1 goty though

Only thing I really want to see is a good deal on CKII dlc, but I might get that this weekend with the Paradox deals.

    Where'd that date come from?

I've actually got a new processor and motherboard coming so they'll get a test run soon by the look of it. (As if I don't have plenty already to test them.)

Dear god man, what are you trying to do to us. Between this and the Half-Life 3 thread, I can't handle these mini panic attacks.

I don't need any games. I have enough and lots I still haven't finished/started. I might need to and live somewhere where there is no internet. I know myself, I won't be able to help it, I'll go mad and splurge on more games I don't have time for.

Anyone else on Trading Cards? I only realised I'd signed up to the Beta a while ago. I've only two cards and none of my friends are on it.

You know what, I think I'm OK. As a survivor of several Steam Sale campaigns, I'm loaded up on games and with all the Indie Gala and Humble Bundle deals I'm not sure there's all that much left for me to buy. In the last two weeks alone I picked up Civilization V and Krater on 75% off sales and my wishlist in down to single figures.

It'd be cool if the meta-games of past summer sales returned though.

Don't look. They're addictive and before long you've a library full of games that you don't have time for and never really much interest in. Like me, "Ohhhhh Rome is only a €1 and Lego Lord of the Rings €7.50. Ah sure it's less than a tenner....."

    Don't.Do.It!

I have a €50 balance sitting in my Steam account. Just sitting there. Waiting. Patiently.

Shogun 2 and Morrowind (old school I know). If no spare cash, well I can also sell spare body parts - someone else's of course.

The shine has gone off the Steam sales for me, there are far cheaper websites offering better deals all year round then the 2-3 sales Steam have a year. Shop elsewhere, they rip you off on new releases!

I just put an ssd in and doubled my ram so I'm eager to try out some games. (GPU should be OK a while)

Skyrim DLC is what I really want. Maybe Blood Dragon too. Might get Assassin's Creed 3 if they drop it below a tenner.

Out of interest where abouts is the cheapest place to purchase PC/Mac games online? Bit unimpressed by my introduction to steam.

Gamefly.com and Simplygames.com are two I've used before to get really cheap steam keys. (Skyrim and Hitman for a fiver each). Prices go up and down all the time though.

Is there a site that you can type in the name of a game and see the cheapest price across a few sites?

Last game I bought in a Steam sale was Football Manager 2012 last summer.I've played 560 hours so far. Best 12 quid I've ever spent.

One advantage of being a poor student is having no money to actually buy anything in the sale.

Steam have sales every day though. Daily deals, midweek deals, weekend sales, publisher weekends or weeks, and then the bigger sales they do like summer, Christmas, Thanksgiving etc.

Gog is a good place to check out. They have a sale on at the moment.
    http://www.gog.com/

The games are all DRM free. Mostly older games that they specialise in. Mainly because not every publisher is willing to go DRM free.
