I am not sure it is my first steam sale too, anyone know how long the discounts usually last?

There are Flash Deals and Daily Deals on top of normal discounts. Flash Deals usually last anywhere from 4 to 10 hours. That is your window of opportunity. Daily Deals last for 24 hours (sometimes a grace period of 2 hours is also given).

However, and this is important, Daily Deals and Flash Deals can be repeated. So don't fret if you have missed one.

Most of the time, there's no rush. Even the shortest special discounts are about 10 hours.
There's occasionally, maybe once or twice a sale -at best- that there's a 'misprice', i.e., the keys sell so much faster than they expect so they have to raise the price. Rarely happens though and they've probably improved their predictions for demand, so there's no rush, just a little excitement.
