Season round up

Lots of fun here this season. It was really a 2 horse race for promotion and the bottom half doing their best to get relegated. Some big wins (Bogwarriors 62-8 Kilsough) and high scoring matches (Newcastle 51-43 Dread0s)...and some that barely woke the crowd up Fingal 7-3 Newcastle.

YERMEN: A++ (i'd give them more if they hadnt dropped points!)
This was the Yermen show from start to finish. Yermen failed to score maximum points only on 2 occasions. Such was the dominance of Yermen, that when we tried to present them with the trophy they refused to take it as they didnt feel it right to take a trophy for 14 no contests! :eek:

BOGWARRIORS: A
In another season Bogwarriors would have been kings. 3 defeats (2 to champions Yermen) meant they had to settle for 2nd place, but crucially still getting the last promotion spot.

KILSOUGH SOUTH WARRIORS: B
The team with the longest name. 3rd place was an excellent result for them given some of the competition. At one stage they looked like they might challenge for 2nd, but 6 defeats killed that hope! Still the experience may give them hope for a crack at promotion next season.

DREAD0s: B-
7 & 7 for Dread0s. 7 wins, 7 defeats. A slow start must have left their manager nervous for their season, but they pulled themselves together to have a respectable season, only finishing 3 points off 3rd place.

NEWCASTLE WEST: C+
Only 5 wins, but bonus points (3 Bonus losses, 6 bonus try points) made their season more comfortable than those in the relegation fight. If they cant keep up the bonus points, next season could be a struggle.

FINGAL PHYSICIANS D+
The Doctors are still in the house....but only just. They scored the least amount of points, but some tight wins over 3rd, 4th and 5th kept them in the league. NURSE ...theres some medicine is needed for these boys before next season

RATH RUGBY CLUB: D-
7th place and relegation for Rath by one point. Highlights of their season were home wins over Newcastle and Fingal. Lowlights were 50+ point hammering away to Yermen (bet they are glad to see the back of them) and 47 points away to Bogwarriors.

COUCH POTATOES: E
Did they ever get off the couch this season??? On paper one of the better teams in the league. One of my tips for promotion, but instead Div 4 is calling. Despite the poor season they still had a chance of staying up on the last day of the season. A win over Newcastle could have redeemed them. Instead they'll be playing their boards games in Div 4 next season..

Rather anti-climactic final day of the season which saw Div 5 Champions, Blue Magic defeat Mayo Migrants, which ultimately secured the runner up spot for Bosher XV - this is despite their thrashing away to Nenagh.

All other teams 'as is' from previous week, with Try Again and Edmonton heading for Div 6

It's been a great league with some cracking nail-biters across the season - thanks to all involved!

Snap , that was an unintended prophecy. League table to follow. Head to Head between 2nd & 3rd - 20 points each, 2 tries each & 5 league points each.
Score difference - 2nd place 8 points better. Tries Scored - 3rd place 3 better.

Edit: Bottom team gave 12 walkovers but 1 of the games was against the team that came 2nd.

Mad finish to the league. Congratulations to Celtic Superstars on winning the league. They led for a long time & faltered with a few rounds to go but steadied the ship for the last couple of games to top the league.

Alling Allstars finished the league with 5 wins on the bounce. The final win against Michael Uhrmann Wonderteam to knock them from 1st to 2nd.

Flash Lightning got the 5 points against Tallaght Tigers to draw level with the wonderteam. FL finished 8 points behind the wonderteam on score difference. (Tbh fairly sickened about this)

Kick to Touch beat Toronto Dutch to finish the season on a high. No place changes outside the top 5.

Really good season, if there were a couple of weeks left you'd nearly fancy Alling Allstars to sneak promotion. Got really topsy turvy for the last couple of weeks so that added to it for the top 3 at least.

First time in Boards League & really enjoyed it. Made a big difference this season between this & playing in Div 3 on BR. Really makes BR more enjoyable.
