Can rot your teeth? Smoking or giving up? I gave up twice cold turkey and definitely found the second time much more difficult. Was a pretty heavy smoker both times. On both occasions I did notice my gums very sensitive but easily treatable. Is to do with the absence of tar covering your teeth all of a sudden or so my dentist said.

First week is a little rough but get up and do some activities like walking, drink plenty of water and maybe look a a meditation or yoga class for breathing exercises.

Within 3 weeks you will be in much better shape. Will only think of smokes occasionally. And after a month withdrawal symptoms should be negligable. It does take effort but worth sticking to it so good luck. Dont keep any smokes around and avoid the shops. The first few days will have intense enough periods of craving so be prepred. Let you spouse/partner know what you are up to and to avoid any head wrecking behaviour or conversations. Into the second week the longing for smoke definitely disipates. The important thing to realise as well is that there is no such thing a just one cigarette anymore once you stop. I thought I knew better and did have one after a couple of years smoke free and thousands of cigarettes later had to go through the process all over again. I hope I m wiser this time. Keep telling yourself it is not just one more but thousands

    Best of luck

Cold turkey was the only efficient way for me to quit. I am back on them now, but that is due to my own foolish decisions. I just picked a day and stopped. I still went on smoke breaks with the regulars as normal and made no other changes. It lasted about a year and I slipped up a bunch of times in a new job and boom back on the usual a day.

Smoking wrecks your teeth, you may just discover the damage it has done, or be prone to snacking on sugary foods when you quit. But your oral health will improve. Some report bleeding gums, but that is due to full circulation returning, not a new issue from quitting.

Best of luck, it was a great smoke free year and I have to do it again soon. It's not a lot of fun, but your attitude is aboslutely key. I didn't feel I was being deprived so I was happy to ignore cravings... easier said than done this time around!

If you smoke cannabis then it's pretty easy to give up the cigs.I've been smoking since I was a kid and like everybody else my habit has increased over time, here's how I give up by going cold turkey and it's really not too hard.
Get yourself some decent quality cannabis and a bong and throw your cigs away.Every time you get a craving for a cig you take a hit of the bong instead.
For me I find I get about 15 cravings on the first day of cold turkey so I take about 15 hits of the bong.On the second day I get about 10 cravings,on the third day I get about 5 cravings and by day 4 or 5 I'm usually down to single hit of the bong in the evenings.Day 6 I have no cravings and so can stop taking the bong.
This method only works if you like getting high and I find it quite painless tbh,the first day is always difficult but after that the cravings greatly reduce.Nicotine is a hell of a drug and the only way I can come off it is to temporarily substitute it with a different drug(which isn't really addictive).
You're basically drugging yourself with cannabis so that you don't feel the nicotine withdrawals so much.
For me it's a very effective method,I don't even need willpower, just a bag of cannabis. The only problem is that it's so effective and painless that there is always a temptation to start smoking again coz I know that it will be easy to stop again using this method.

Yeah it sounds pretty weird alright but is really effective.
The weird thing about this method is that you don't seem to suffer cravings beyond the physical cravings as the nicotine leaves your body for the first 3-4 days, you don't get that little voice in your head on day 10 trying to convince you to start smoking again coz you "enjoy" them or that they're a deserved pleasure or that you'll struggle to socialise at work without them or whatever bs you usually tell yourself to rationalise starting again. The little voices that eat away at your motivation-they don't appear with this method for some reason.
I can't explain it but for some reason your motivation doesn't seem to ebb and flow with this method.I suspect it's coz cause you don't feel you're depriving yourself of something as you are still getting a "hit" off a drug,it's just not a ridiculously addictive drug like nicotine.

Cold turkey worked for me man, gave them up 3 years ago. Gonna give them up again in a while, not a bother on me, can do it anytime I want.
