I'm a big fan of the Byrds, REM, The Bangles, Big Star etc but it seems to have gone totally.
Anyone have pointers to present day good examples or even bands from the past that most people might not have heard of.
You might also like DIIV, also from last year
For some great past examples try some bands on the Sarah Records label, The Field Mice in particular. The label also issued a few compilations during it's existence. There's also the NME C86 compilation which distilled the essence of DIY jangle pop. Rattlesnakes by Lloyd Cole and The Commotions and Reading, Writing & Arithmetic by The Sundays are also essential.0 -

WTF?? Rattlesnakes couldn't remotely be considered jangle pop.

Thanks for that recommendation Silverscreen. They sound great. Also listened to their song Shadow on Youtube. Intend to check them out some more. Sometimes I think there's no good new bands out there anymore, this gives me hope.
(Oh and yeah Welsh Megaman - The Fanclub every time. Recording a new album this year I believe.)0 -
