Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yes it was a poor goal to concede last night, though the idea of taking just a single incident and saying "that is why that player isn't world class" is frankly ridiculous. You could take examples from any player during any one game, highlight it and say "rthat's why that player isn't the best/one of the best/very good/good/decent/useful."

Except it's liable to happen in any game with those 2

Pretty sure Thuram captained France to world cup glory in 98. I could be wrong. He certainly was a key part of the team anyway.

I was talking about players who won both the Champ League and the World Cup(Lilian played a big role winning the latter with a brace in the semi vs Croatia) but didn`t win a Champions League. Deschamps was the captain.

An increasingly waterlogged pitch, looked to have cost Olympiakos second too.

For anyone who hasn't seen PSG, make sure to have a look at Ibrahimovic's 4 goals tonight. Great stuff and some fantastic goals

Pogba has been outstanding so far. Benzema and Llorente are in a scrap to see who's star has fallen further.

As has Pirlo. He looks to have so much time on the ball he makes it look easy.

    Edit: Great pen by Vidal

    Napoli starting XI v Marseilles:
Reina, Maggio, Armero, Albiol, Fernandez, Dzemaili, Inler, Mertens, Callejón, Pandev, Higuain.

Donkey Pandev is in the team again, I guess against Marseilles he can't do too much harm. No Insigne again which is disappointing.

12,000 Celtic fans in Amsterdam, have only 3000 official away tickets.

Best following in Europe surely, A great addition to the competition after there few years of not making the group stages

Will somebody who is neutral please look at Neymar's "great play" to win Barca that penalty and tell me how it was any different to Ashley Young last night??

He went down with absolutely minmal contact, it's a contact sport for f*** sake and he was in no way dragged forcibly.

Can't understand the commentators praising Neymar's "great speed and intelligence" for going down there, it's a joke

Barca are 2-1 up thanks to a Neymar dive and an offside Biscuits header from a freekick.

But then Pique popped up with an own goal to remind us all of just how sh*te he is.

The racism ad is so pointless. You can't even hear what most of them are even saying over the dramatic music. Balotelli on, hope he batters Neymar or Busquets i'm not fussy tbh.

If Kaka had pace(I know) and Muntari wasn't just plain awful we'd be properly in this. They are garbage at the back.

Must be hard to watch a team that is obviously a lot better struggle to break down a terrible Milan team and need a dive and an offside header to win the game.

Mexes is sweating more than Richie from bottom. He'd say its tiredness but its more his fondness for food.

Other result went our way so we're still second.

If we make it out of the group, we'll be beaten in the last 16 anyway, but sure, feck it.

Angle (and time) of gif doesn't show it but it was a penalty. Milan player (Abate?) had put his hand around Neymar and dragged him back.

I've seen every angle and in none of them was it a penalty.

Neymar threw himself in the ground after Abate pulls his arm away.

Napoli and Arsenal can play out a draw and that would suit both one suspects but would they?

edit forget that, I forgot there are still two rounds left!

Well, I'll need to see it again now but it looked like a clear pull back.

No, it looked like a serial diver throwing himself on the ground AFTER minimal contact.

Sigh point out the player rep would be like me dismissing your point because you're a Milan fan. Either something is a penalty or it isn't. Player rep should have nothing to do with it. (Even if referees appear to gamble otherwise.) You think the contact was minimal I think it was enough of an obstruction. I don't see any way past this impasse.

Well it all depends how the Dortmund-Napoli game goes. If Napoli can take a point, then obviously a draw will suit both sides in the last game. Knowing Wenger though, I don't think he's the type to "agree to a draw". A fascinating group though nonetheless.

Napoli gave away two very soft goals tonight. Armero wants shooting for not clearing for the second. The gremlins are still there in defence. Happy for Higuain though, took his two goals very well. Inler's was a special finish. If Benitez had bothered to start Hamsik & Insigne, and Mesto instead of Armero, the game would have been over at half time.
