Very good cross section photos of various types of ammo here

Lots of unusual stuff, can anyone identify them and their uses?

    That's pretty cool.

Some of them look seriously nasty, and others are a little puzzling. One seems to have cotton wool in it, another has a "void" from the primer into the case.

As was said on the page some back story or description would be nice.

Big plus one on the puzzling front, some are just bizarre.

One appears to be some form of Sabot round and one appears to have what looks like a wooden bullet ??

I read somewhere not sure where that the Japanese used wooden warheads in some of their rifles during the Pacific conflict on the islands. This was supposed to get a marine injured and then 2or3 more to take him off the battle field thus 1 enemy injured and 3 off the field of battle. Not sure how well it worked for them though

The Germans used wooden bullets for training (WW2), they were made of really soft wood that broke up. I was told there was an attachment that broke up the bullets but I've never seen one.

The one with the cotton wool looks like a Multi Enviroment Round/ Ammunition.

Further down the page the stacked projectile (3 conical shapes stacked) looks like a version of a Armour Peircing round.

The nasty looking ones are Shrapnel rounds.

Would love to see all 900 with descriptions
