Do you mean Bilt Hamber?? :)

OAC Wheel Cleanse is a very good one. It's available on detailingshed.com

And how does the rinse aid work?

I also use bilt hamber auto wheel clean and its fantastic!

It acts as a lubricant between the towel and the paint. It's an extra step but is worth it IMO.

Here's the video where I first seen it, the AMMO NYC videos are a great watch BTW!

Strange you mention that, I've actually been watching a couple of his videos lately. Seems a pretty sound chap, and sometimes things don't really work out for hum as well as Im sure he'd like them to... so I can relate :P

    Plan for the weekend:

    Car:
    Wash
    De-tar
    Polish

    Wheels:
    Take off
    Wash and scrub-a-dub
    De-tar
    APC and dry
    Dress tyres
    Back on you go

Plan on giving the car the works (clay, wax, etc.) around May. Hopefully i will have enough knowledge of what I'm doing by then :pac:

Taylor, you'd be better off to wait until the wheels are back on the car before dressing the tyres ;)

    So only dress 1 side?

There's absolutely no point in dressing the inside because it'll get caked in muck in no time. It's amazing how much crap builds up on the inside when it's not being washed properly along with the rest of the car.

Is there a difference tyre on then off?

I'm using a paint brush and don't usually touch the tyre when fitting wheels :P

I gave the family car it's first proper wash since Christmas. TFR, followed by TBM followers by detar. Polished and rain-xed the glass. I was planning on doing ironx and a lick of wax, but it looked so good I just did a once over with meguiars QD. Collinite is on nearly six months at this stage. Behold:

Tomorrow will be wheels off if I can get a couple of hours to myself.

So with the meet coming up tomorrow i finally got my arse in gear to give the saab its first proper going over, didn;t take many pictures but sure here ye go :D

Started off with a prewash, then shampooed, dryed, detarred, (so much was on it that I've ran out of de tarrer :o) clayed, polished and waxed, so should bead up nicely when it rains! :D

    20u3ax2.jpg

Two seconds after this picture the sun came out :D

Cleaned up the engine bay a bit too

    5b42hk.jpg

    And lastly the wheels :)

    Heres before

Washed, de-tarred, half washed, clayed and washed the car today.

Then I decided that it needed a shine boost so I removed the excess water and applied a lubbly coat of Meguiars Last Touch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

Metz; what sort of half arsed job is that....do it right or not at all!! :p
    And no pics....amateur! ! ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,854 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

Half arsed is right, I was tired :( Also, I LOVE Tardis! Also, when I finished claying the front bumper, the clay was on a new, clean side before Istarted and it was filthy afterwards! Couldn't believe all the crap that came off!

I only washed the wheels even though they could have done with a detar and clay but I'm getting them powdercoated soon and find it hard to give a fvck about them until then!

You're a hard act to follow James....

Anyway. Wheels cleaned, iron-xed, detared (twice!), rinsed, dried. Tyres scrubbed with APC (twice). 1 coat of Colinite on the wheels and tyres dressed:

    2C0C36C9-BCBA-4CA6-9268-F2B2F0FC9E53_zpspx1dkmhx.jpg

Also cleaned door jambs and interior plastics with APC, hoovered and washed floor mats, hoovered carpets and seats. Cleaned and polished interior.

Oh and thanks for the kind comments.

Are you incredibly fast at working, out of curiousity? It's just ten hours seems quite quick for what you did?

Maybe I'm just a bit lazy and slower :o

I'm sure some of ye guys remember the bonnet of my old Focus:

    57073459FF1F4DB4997400E4D2ACF41C-0000333410-0003515569-00800L-45E01A31D22F4FCF89981324649968CD.jpg

Well I cleaned the whole car, and then paid some attention to the bonnet. I snowed, ironed, tarred and clayed it (just the bonnet) and then I spent a bit of time on it with the machine polisher, and I can safely say it was the single most rewarding detailing experience I have had just yet!

    Here's a quick after photo:

    DED46EC9570E4EADBB7CE4FBB5B7420B-0000333410-0003515568-00800L-C5C5A0074159460597D1B87344649AD3.jpg

I'm sure we can all agree, it's like looking at two completely different cars. You wouldn't even know it was the same model of car. A side by side comparison:

To truly appreciate the difference, you need to see the side by side comparison!

    5E97E265FE87419888F9E22ED6AABE95-0000333410-0003515567-01024L-A08CDC13DAD34E4DB0AB4C712094E4B4.jpg

(in reality, the bonnet is a tad shinier, but barely noticeable. Would love to know what happened to that car's bonnet to make it so bad).

Looking for advice from the pros here.

Is it ok to apply wax only to my car after snowfoam, 2BM wash ,deironize, detar, 2BM wash and Dry ?

I will attempt to polish with a DA in a month or 2 when the days are longer and weather is more predictable, just wanna get a protective layer on the car now.

Also can jetseal 109 be applied by hand? if it can i would do that too,
So the car would get everything bar a polish.

In answer to your first question, yes.

In answer to your second, yes, Jetseal can be applied by hand - it's my preferred method anyway!

Edit: Just to add, if you want to use Jetseal in conjunction with a wax, the sealant (Jetseal) is applied first, then the wax.

Also ,the cleaner your paint, the better the sealant will bond etc. etc..

Its 3 for 2 in Halfrauds at the mo.
    Im going in tommorrow.

So i am thinking i will go with the AutoGlym HD wax, HD Cleanser Kit and AutoGlym Clay kit in there.

I have ordered all the other stuff off detailing shed.
Mostly orchard autocare products except for chemical guys wheel gaurd and Jetseal.

Hopefully the break in the weather will still be here when my order arrives.
I will get straight on the car then :)
