right if I start saving now so I might have enough for some gtech**q stuff in about 3 years

Any plans for DS to start stocking it?

    Fanboi!

    C5 ;)

But as I said to you before, I heard that all the products are pretty much the same...not sure how true that is though!

To become an official stockist, it is a crazy minimum order!

And in Ireland, with one main customer (we all know who), it doesnt make sense right now!! ;)
But if the fanboi keeps plugging it, who knows!! :p

C5 IS the exact same thing as C1 but you're getting better value when you buy C1.

    Who's that??? :pac:

Nothing wrong with being a fanboi when I'm offering it as a service ;) At least I do these things myself :D

Also, can I just say to people who are going to buy C1/C5 for their alloys, it will give a MUCH stronger, scratch resistant lacquer layer but it won't provide much hydrophobicity. If that's what you're after, get EXO too.

Saw these wheels and they had to be cleaned. Car belongs to my GF's mother.

Not 100% clean but about 1000% better!

spent all day trying my hand at some paint correction well some of u people may say that its not really correction as i was not useing a hex logic pad or mersameaner :L never befor have i lifted a power polisher but as the paint work on the vectra was as bad as i was thinkin about a full respray i bit the bullet today and took a bottle of t cut color fast and my dads roatery to the paint i am so happy now that do not feel the need to spray serously thinkin on the hex logic pads now to get to them deeper scratchs wish i took pics now but after photos will be up tomorrow when i get some decent sunlight to take them

    Good man
Just be careful with the rotary as with those you can go too deep very fast.

Last night I washed and clayed the new chariot.
    Washed again after the calying.

Gave it another light wash this morning just to remove any dust that may have landed on it.

Hand polished it with Chemical guys Vertua Bond 408 Bonding Agent
Gave one coat of Dodo Juice soft wax.

    Very pleased with the results.

Washed the wheels and gave them a quick wipe of Chemical Guys P40 Detailer Spray with Carnauba

Just to make them look the part until I get time to do a wheels off job on them.

Cleaned all glass and sealed them up with a glass sealer. ( No idea of the make )

Of course forgot to take a pic. Will post one or two tomorrow :P

This is the real reason you rejected the repair on your red VRS. You just wanted a new car to start detailing from scratch didn't you!

Finally got a run at the car on Saturday.

    Snow foamed with Honeydew Snowfoam
Washed with 2 bucket method and Microfiber Madness Incredimitt.
De tarred with Autoglym tar remover and rinsed again.
Next step was Orchard Iron Cleanse. Amazing product.
Amazing when you see the colour change that this that much hidden
    dirt left on the car.
    Washed again.
Clayed car next using Autobrite clay and Chemical Guys luber.
Was not looking forward to claying but once i got started
    found it quite enjoyable.:D
Car washed and dried ready for Jetseal 109.
After two coats of Jetseal 109 and a coat of Orchard autocare
perfection I was happy with the results and f**ked
    out tired.
    Before and after

^ +1 on this - white and silver are two of the most difficult colours to make an impact on detailing-wise, but you've managed it.Fair play!

Gave the combi a second coat of dodo juice soft wax yesterday,
Turned out not too bad :) ( for silver)

Got the DA out again last weekend and went at the bonnet, much improved but not as good as I would have hoped, swirls gone but some random deep scratches still visible. After about 2 hours on the bonnet alone!

    oGIIOt3l.jpg

After that I was a bit sick of DA'ing so gave the wheels a bit of a clean and gave the interior a hover and cleaned the seats

    Iron cleanse in action:

    After:
    ZgpfGxdl.jpg

    Interior cleaned:

Bolster a bit worn as can be seen here, have stuff ordered to sort it hopefully:

My two front seats are half leather, half alcantara and the alcantara was disgustingly dirty. Used some AG interior shampoo with a detailing brush for agitation and lots of microfiber cloths (some damp) to pull out the gunk. Was a bit nervous but the seats came out a treat.
Never took a before pic but I should have because the difference was so dramatic. They could do with some shaving/bobble removal but well chuffed with how they came out.

Would have been ****ting myself working on this

    Washed, Polished & Waxed

    Autoglym Shampoo
    Autoglym Polish
    Meguiars Mirror Glaze
AutoGlym Clean wheels with Turtle Wax wheel protector
    Autoglym tyre dressing
    Rain-ex for the windows

Its been a while since I did a polish and wax....how often should I do both?

You don't have a wax on the list above, but if you used Autoglym super resin polish that is a mix of protection and light polish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

    Looks well McLove!!

How often you have to polish will depend on how well you look after your paintwork...washing techniques, where its parked, etc, etc

How often you have to re-apply wax will also depend on a few factors.....washing techniques and products used, mileage, weather conditions the car is driven in, the wax you applied, etc, etc
As a general rule of thumb, a decent wax should see 8-12 weeks without issue.

Well I suppose there isnt that much contamination from where its parked, mostly dust than anything really, and maybe the rare bit of sap from tree's (not a whole lot though, one or two spots).

need to do a clay on it though down near the wheels on the passenger and drivers sides. or else tar removal, was looking at that iron cleanse?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

De-tar, de-ironise and clay would make a nice difference to the shine of the car....especially if you know for sure its never been done since 08.
Then top it up with two layers of good protection and it'll be looking sweet!

Come off it, you should know that no polish offers any type of protection.

Awhh come on....you should know that some All in One products do!!
But we all know SRP doesnt! ;)

I did have wax though. The Meguairs Mirror Glaze is carnauba wax. Can take a picture - cant seem to find a link to it.

Curran you mention two levels of protection after the de-tar, iron and clay, would you have any recommendations? Or even for the de-tar, de-ironise and clay products?

I can only assume it is Megs #7 mirror glaze.
If so, Then it is not a wax but is perfectly suitable fir use under wax.
    Meguiars #7 Show Car Glaze
Enrich your paint for that true concours look with Meguiars Show Car Glaze
For years enthusiasts showing off their cars at the exhibitions have had this as their secret. With rich emollients and nourishing oils, Show Car Glaze gives a deep, mirror like shine, lustrous gloss and the ultimate show-stopping finish. With Show Car Glaze your car will be the belle of the ball even if it’s just parked on the street.
This isn’t designed to have any protective properties, so use it under wax, what this is for is bringing out the life and shine of paint.
When enthusiasts and exhibitors want a brilliant shine they turn to this especially if they are of the old school, hand-rubbing philosophy. If you’re not bothered about hand polishing then this can be used with an orbital buffer or dual action polisher. Finish off with a premium wax such as Meguiars #26 hi tech yellow wax and you can enjoy your results for longer.
Safe for all paints and clear coats.
An essential for enthusiasts and exhibitors.
Stunning finish that you’ll be proud of.
Easy to apply by hand or Machine

Mirror Glaze is an entire line of products, not just one. It is Meguiar's professional range.

Did my first ever clay, polish and wax over the past couple of days. Found it very satisfying altogether. It was dark before I got to buff out the EGP but heres a pic after the polish with Autoglym SRP

First time posting here. Been following this forum for a while now. . After getting big into detailing over the past few months.(it's addictive).

Anywho gave the car a full go over(well, what's considered a full go over for me)
Mostly, well all products, bar one, I used was autoglym.

    Washed with 2 bucket method.
    Rinsed
    Wheel cleaner and de- tar
    Rinsed.
    Dried
    Super resin polish
Extra gloss protection( 3 thin layers applied with a spray bottle)
turtle wax black and gloss on trim and tyres ( I think that's the name)
    Glass polish.

    Quite happy with the result

    Picture attached.

    Process:
Wash, shampoo, de-tar, wash, de-ironise, shampoo, dry, Autoglym SRP (1 coat) and 2 coats of EGP. Used AG fast glass and AG bumper and trim too.

Sorry i've no before pics and also dont judge the alloys as i didnt have enough product (muppet) so i'll do them tomorrow :)
