Yeah I found it very good. My seats where not too bad but they had the odd muck stains from the previous owners but now there like new. Depending on how much you wet them you'd probably have to go over them at least five times to soak up as much as possible. Money well spent imo.

Now to get rid of that that older car and smoke smell....

Started at 10 this morn at it all day between the showers! Wash detar,wash,clay,wash,dry polish and wax and tyre dressed. I'm wrecked to say the least. Used colanite 845 for first time does great job!

Gave my headlights a quick restoration before the show tomorrow, will get pictures of the rest of the car in the light tomorrow. Still need to be sanded and cut properly during the week but happy with them now!

Sound! Ara, bit of sandpaper never hurt anyone! It's on in the Tesco Carpark in Douglas, Cork!

Anyone know when he's back? Was hoping to get the C5 into the shed on Tuesday morning to get stuck in as best I can.

It hurt me! Few years ago, I was stupidly resting the side of my hand on the face of one of them small belt sanders (upside down in a vice). I was talking away to someone when some young buck comes along and turns on the sander, meant no harm in it. Think there was 80 grit paper in it. Well it ate into my hand in about 2 seconds, still have a slight scar from it.


So in short, sandpaper can harm you :pac:

Anyway, pay no heed to my ramblings.

Ah, I don't really keep cash in my bank account, though. More of a Credit Union man. Which is usually fine, but makes ordering this kinda stuff a bit tricky sometimes :P

Yesterday took all 4 wheels of and
Rinsed
Iron X
Goes to show even new wheels are in need of some proper care.






Wash with apc / fairy mix.
Polish with Meguairs crystal clean paint cleanser.
2 x wipedown with Carpro Eraser.
followed but a coat of Carpro Dlux.
Faces of them got second coat of dlux after 30 minutes.
Final wipeover with Carpro Reload.

Today was Similar.

Cover wheels as they need 24 hours to fully cure before getting really wet.



Then it was a wash with apc / fairy.
rince
spray with apc.
wash with apc.
rinse
Spray with demon shine solution and clay
Rince
wash with apc solution
rinse
Polish with Meguairs crystal clean paint cleanser
Had it finished
went to have lunch and it rained

and it rained.

Hoping to get it washed tomorrow
wipedown twice with Carpro Eraser.
then 2 coats of Carpro CQUK
and Carpro Reload.

Will post up when finished.

Well, I finally got off my ar$e and tried to sort the exhaust tips on the Leon. They are not chromed tips but appear to be rolled steel.

Here's a pic from before I started.



I then washed it with brake cleaner and AG engine cleaner. It didn't make much of an impression



I then tackled the tips with wet 2000 grit sandpaper, the same sandpaper with AG Metal Polish and then finished it off with a microfibre cloth. It came up OK I guess.


Ya, I used the "flash" function on the phone for that one.....






I did the rest of the car with the usual 2BM with AG shampoo, dried, wheels with Bilt-Hamber Auto-Wheels, Orchard tyre shine and finished with a small bit of AG Rapid Detailer.

I then started into the engine bay of the Escort. I did the inner wings & bulkhead. Next on the list is the windscreen washer bottle, brake servo & tower but I guess I've almost 39 years of dirt to clean (and no I won't change the washer bottle for a new reproduction one as it's the original Ford ones)


Camera phone & a dark garage gives a potato photo......

Edit - I'm thinking of getting proper FR chrome tips as I've seen them on left hooker Leon FR's

It's a Weber 32/36 DGV carb with a ITG air cleaner. The original air box in in the boot. It fits over the ITG base plate but there is no point in putting it on, too "restrictive". The original 32/32 DGV is on the shelf in the garage.....

I think every bit of plastic and trim might end up being coated with it

On some fourms I've seen pics of wheel arch liners (the carpet type) being sprayed to restore them. It's ocd alright but to preserve the car as best as one can isn't a bad thing. Is that dlux masonary paint? if it is it leaves a nice protective skin similiar to plastic dip I reackon and probably cheaper. I wouldn't go using it on anything else though .

Car mat had a few stains and looked a bit grubby when I bought it.

Got some Meguiars shampoo, roasting hot water and with a cheapo scrubbing brush, agitated the mat. Took the Karcher to it and let it dry all day Sunday.

They came up like brand new mats and considering they're 11 years old, I think they look pretty good.

wash with combat neutral snow foam
rinse down
dry with dry me crazy micro fibre towel (brilliant)
full decal with Korosol including wheels
wash and dry.
full polish with autoglyn resin polish.
2 coats of Collinite 845 Liquid Insulator Wax ( First time using it)
Wheels sealed with Autoglyn alloy wheel seal.
Tyres dressed with Meguiars Endurance tire gel.
all glass cleaned with newspaper after spray of water and vinegar mix.
happy with the result

Today looked ok but bit cloudy,
Decided to chance it anyway. As I already had it prepped the other day I rinsed it down and gave it 2 wipedowns with Carpro Eraser



Gave it a coat of Carpro CQUK,
What I would say it this product is Tedious but simple to use.
Half bonnet,,, buff.. Other half ... Buff
Half roof,,,, Buff and so on. You get the idea.

Once the full car was coated, I had lunch
One hour between layers is recommended, I gave it almost 2 hours.
Repeated the above process in the same order as the first coat.

Once finished I dressed the tyres and polished the windows. Had a few jobs to do around the house so took up another hour and 25 minutes

Then gave it a once over with Carpro Reload.



Basically mist on, Spread with MF cloth and buff with another MF.

Both products are basically wipe on wipe off.
Would I use them again?
Most certainly yes.
Playing the waiting game now to see the water behaviour.


Next and possibly the final stage will be the engine bay with Dlux.

If I were doing this in January I would most likely have to do it indoors.
But yes.
I am interested in seeing how long this lasts.
Hoping to have a relaxing winter with not too much washing.

The car was in a bit of a state so gave it a going over today.

The car has about 2500 km on it now and after a wash I noticed some paint damage due to bird **** etching the top coat.




So I gave it a light polish.






Edit:that 2nd snap is the roof spoiler. No idea why it's upside down.

I assume that CQUK stuff is much easier and probably a better idea the next time? I understand it's a sealant rather than a wax.

Try Collinte 845, thats no hard work at all.

Yeah; Collinite 845 is a nice product to work, a traditional sealant with and good for 3-4 months.
Whereas CarPro CQUK is a nano sealant and good for a year, or more if maintained well.

Started her first stage of machine polishing today, bonnet and boot lid done, rest of car tomorrow hopefully. First stage is being done with Menzerna 300 on a 2DCar Care Yellow Pad.
