Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah; Collinite 845 is a nice product to work, a traditional sealant with and good for 3-4 months.
Whereas CarPro CQUK is a nano sealant and good for a year, or more if maintained well.

Hi Curran.. So I'm going to be I ordering some protection soon :)

Clay bar and what else do you reckon? Carpro? Do I also need a de ironiser?

No time to do it though! :( Might give it a wash during the week! :P

Drop it down to me, I'll give it a wash

As ever, prepation is key, but with anything that is extremely durable such as CQUK, its even more critical if you are to get the claimed durability from it.

Full decontamination of the paintwork; wash, de-tar, de-iron, clay, wash, dry, wipedown (CarPro Eraser), and then application.

Sure it'd be filthy by the time I get it back!! :p

Might give it the HydrO2 treatment - should have it all done in about an hour or so! :)

There was 6 weeks of dirt and dead flies on the car. Snow foam and 2BM. Good bit of tar on the car so will have to sort that out soon.

So a family member bought an ex an post kangoo to replace the ford escort workhorse, it survived 10 years of abuse but the chassis is full of rust!

The postie has been on a farm for a while, never cleaned. Interior as you'd expect. It still had all the markings of a post van just without the stickers lol. So of course I saw it as a challenge...

Started out with APC, Washed, detar, washed, Polished using chemical guys 3n using hex logic hand pads, sealed using smartsealant( had it knocking about and wanted to try it out) trim and tyres treated with CG new look gel

Not a bad result given the minimum effort and all by hand!

Rattle can of primer and a rattle can of a suitable colour; 15 quid - get wheels off and give them a quick spray and thats a really nice turn around for little outlay! ;)

    Good work!

I have Menzerna's 2200 to go on next followed by their finishing polish, I'll probably seal it with C2V3 and then wax it with King Of Gloss or Fusso Black.

    Just use the fusso
Anything under it is not worth it.
Anything over it I find spoils the super beading.:D

Stage 2 finished with Menzerna 2200 on a White Diamond Cut pad, speed 2 to spread it and speed 5 to buff in.

@MisterJingles: Yeah I clean it or snowfoam it if I've driven it after one of the stages.

What the hell is that vent for along the bottom of the rear windscreen? Had it in my 335 and it never cleared that window when the fan was on!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 853 ✭✭✭edburg

    Equalising cabin pressure. :pac:

There a vent in boot to somewhere, basically circulation of air through car.

More this week than today. But did this Hyundai as a cheer up for cousins, while there on holiday, who have had hard year.

Several wash's, rinses, claying, polishing and some dressing hours later

Wheels were somewhat caked and decided to stop here as time was a issue.

If someone left their car at mine like that and said 'oh hai I hear you like washing cars'. I would just quickly turn around and nope, nope, nope away into the distance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,845 ✭✭✭Noccy_Mondy

If it was family though, it's different. I do all my relations cars for free. They might insist on me taking a tenner to cover products, but that's all I'd take.

Saves me getting them xmas presents :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

Nice work edburg - they'll be chuffed with that! But tell them to wash their wheels more regularly :) With something like Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel - wow they were rough!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 853 ✭✭✭edburg

    Cheers lads.

Yes this was a family present sort of thing, totally free.

Curran, I would but there getting on and took me ages to explain that washing car with fairy liquid each week was killing it, dealer sales man recommended it to.

I keep telling them to drop it off each weekend or come around for cuppa and give it quick wizz over.

She's up on superlites as I degreased/deoiled and powerhosed the underneath to look for a leak, which turns out to be a gearbox leak, will be getting that sorted soon.
