Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Now that's where things get a bit tricky. I only have AG SRP polish with me as well as Chemical Guys P40 polish I think.

I bought the OKD Concours wax on Wednesday, was half tempted to not polish it and apply the wax straight onto the clayed paintwork, thoughts?

If it weere me I would only use the P40 polish. I had this before and found it excellent to prep paint for sealing after.

SRP contains fillers and would affect the durability of the OKD wax.

If it were me, I'd use the P40 to help remove very light defects and add depth to the colour. But then to make sure there would be no issue layer it with ODK Glamour, I'd wash it off with an APC. The Glamour will do some masking also.

Applied two thin coats of ODK Concours to the 156. Very very impressed with the wax so far.

Cant post photos yet but today consisted of:

    -Tfr to remove old wax/bugs
    -rinse
    -detar using tar x
    -rince
-snow foam using CG mr pink
-wash 2BM using autoglym bodywork conditioner
-clay using g3 clay mitt and ONR clay lube
    -another foam
    -wash again
-dried using a twisted grey drying towel (testing compared to dry me crazy)
    -coat of fusso
    -coat of king of gloss

Started to top it off with bouncers done and dusted but stopped after 2 panels as I didn't think they played well together! was my first time using both so I'm a little disappointed that i cant really review either.

Picked this Civic up cheap recently off a work colleague. Hadn't been washed in a number of years so I spent the whole day on it. I'll let the pics do the talking.

Here it is fully decontaminated. Washed, de-tared, de-ironed and clayed.

Polishing started. Everyone likes a 50:50

Serious job DZ, completely different car!

I did my buddies E36 yesterday, single stage polish and nano coating in prep for the Airlift Performance stand at VAGE today but due to being on it's period, it didn't make it :(

what sort of damage do bonnet bras cause from a detailing point of view? Did you have it off today for polishing?

Not 100% sure to be honest, the Rack + Bra was off while I was doing it, he has those on for shows, not sure if they cause much damage to be honest as there was nothing noticeable from it before I polished it!

I know they protect from stone chips but I would be worried it would leave a load of fine scratches near the edge where they flap in the wind.

Yeah I would've thought that too but to be honest his bonnet was pretty much perfect, even from multiple uses!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,670 ✭✭✭quadrifoglio verde

Really think these are pointless. And they make the car that they're on ugly as feck.

Whether it protects the paint or not, it's stated job is to prevent against stone chips. But what's the point if you can't see the paintwork in the first place. So completely pointless in my opinion.

Then again I'm not the biggest fan of any sort of bra so perhaps I'm a little bit biased :p

Finally managed to get some free time and give the black beauty a wash. It was well dirty from multiple road trips and I didnt really want to post any of the dirty pics :D

Use Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel on the wheels, and rinsed, then power washed the car.

Used ODK Jet and rinsed. Then used CarPro Hyro2foam in the lance and washed with mitt and then rinsed. The way the water reacts to it is fantastic, made it a pleasure to towel dry off.

Keeping with the mondeo theme ;)

Exact same process as the focus a few posts back.

However, I took off all the wheels yesterday, detarred them, deironed and polished them. Should make the dirt easier to remove again.

I never treated the interior of them wheels before, badly needed doing. They were never done I'm thinking, there was so much sticky marks from balancing weights, must have gone through some amount of tyres before I got them!

About 16 hours work gone into it between today and yesterday. Cleaned all the arches yesterday

    Today, car paintwork got:

    Wash - 2 bm - microfibre
    Dry - micro fibre towel
    Removed reg plates
    Detar
    Wash
    Clayed
    Rinsed
    Dried
Polished - P40 Polish (Buffed with machine polisher)
    Waxed - Butterwax
    Tyres dressed
Interior got a thorough vacuuming and dash cleaned, along with a new air freshener. Must get a lad to wet vac the seats soon too.

I would love to get a wing but any crashed I come across are hit on front or gone.

Finally gave mine an overdue wash.....

    Bilt Hamber auto-foam first.

    rps20160815_202109_288.jpg

First time using the auto-foam as I'd being using the 50Cal Ambush Super foam up to now. I prefer the Bilt Hamber as it seem to cling better and also clean better. This is straight after the auto-foam was rinsed off.

    rps20160815_202030_337.jpg

Then it was the usual, 2BM with AG Shampoo, BH Autowheels and wheel woolies and Dry-me-Crazy. Ya the photo below is just before the drying as its getting dark.....

Attacked the interior with CarPro PERL at the weekend and it came up fantastic, lovely matte black finish. Used 1:1 concentration which worked a treat, no smearing or oily residue.

Had a Tesla Model S in work today, I got to work on it :) We gave it a full decontamination and sealed with Fusso, the interior got a good tidy up. Savage machine, the owner was kind enough to give us a spin in it too :D:D

In not such a great state, always parked under trees too so caked in sap!

Redid the F31 I protected earlier in the year, this time with a Ceramic Coating on the body, calipers, wheels and the exhaust. Some of the trim received a Trim Restorer/protectant.

She was fairly manky from the trip down from Tip, these photos are from just after the wheels were cleaned.

Whats the pink stuff you all use to clean the Alloys?

Going to attack my car this weekend, never gave her a clay bar treatment so should get some nice before and after shots.
