Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    have you ever tried doping!

Never done it but read it in a gardening magazine....basically get a nail and punch a small hole through the stalk...pull through a muslin cloth ..the other end of the cloth is in a sugar/water solution in a lunchbox... There is probably a better explanation on the net somewhere..
. A lot of it is down to genetics too I reckon, so preserve the seeds from the larger one each year

    Nettle soup.
Collect some nettles and let yhem rot down. The liquid that collects is super strength liquid feed.

Though a rich feed, nettle tea is primarily a nitrogen-heavy feed. For pumpkins, it's the fruits you want to encourage, not the leaves. Choose a potassium rich feed, e.g. comfrey.

    Remember, N-P-K, Shoots-Roots-Fruits.

For an extra large pumpkin you also need to restrict the amount of fruit. One fruit per plant and remove all other flowers. Also encourage the stem to put out roots as it's growing across the ground. The best preparation is before you set the seed. I always plant on a compost heap. Also water 2 times a day while the fruit is swelling.
