So I'm sold now, we rented a 6 Berth Ducato based Fendt Camper in the Netherlands for our trip in Germany.

Was kitted out with everything, we could have just gone with clothes, blankets and food but we brought some extra stuff with us (Solar showers, portable stove etc)

Rental was 70 per day flat (and 500 euro deposit) with just a policy of dropping it back with a full tank, clean interior and empty chemical toilet.

I live in the Netherlands, had no problem renting with my Irish License and it was cheaper than Germany (was around 100 - 120 /day for something similar)

The German Stelleplatz are handy, stopped off at one in Worms that had electricity and water close by, was 3 euros for the night and right next to the Rhein.

The Stelleplatz are basically Campervan car parks that sometimes have extra facilities for Power/Water/Drainage. It sort of inbetween wild camping and a campsite.

There was a Brauhaus around 100 meters away with some great in house beers and fantastic Schnitzel.

Then onto Sinsheim to the Museum which is the sister Museum to the Speyer museum close by and holds the Concorde and Lesser known Russian rip off :)

Went to Bad Wildbad, the Campsite again was great with a Indoor/Outdoor pool, pretty level parking spots and a fantastic restaurant with hiking trails into the village close by.

On the way we stopped at the Triberg Waterfalls, very nice with parking available close by for a large camper:

In Freiburg we stayed at the Moselpark, Campsite was a little more expensive with no pool but again great facilities.

Finally we went to the Southside festival in Neuhausen ob Eck, with a camper it was fantastic to have hot water every morning, we had a shower tent setup next to the camper so hot showers every morning (just top up the solar shower with some from the tap) , cooking and a fridge to keep everything including cold beer :)

Then drove back and had a sad feeling when we had to bring the camper back, I am now seriously thinking about buying one :D

Especially in Germany the facilities are fantastic and when stopping at a Autobahn Restplatz it was great just to be able to walk back and sit down, have a cup of tea and cook some food / chill out.

Dropped it back and the owner checked over everything and handed back my deposit in cash.

Wasn't even as bad as I thought to drive the camper, the reversing camera was a godsend and your up nice and high so have a good view of everything.

Think I might go for something a little smaller if buying though :D

That van looks mint for the age! I saw a 2011 bessacarr the other day all the plastics yellowed/discoloured and some crazing.
