Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Solicitors; how much should be payed upfront and when should balance be expected?

    Hi

    Im looking for some advice on this. A solicitor Ive agreed to use is looking for 50% of the fee now and the balance in 30 days. Is this normal? The matter could go on for a few months and I thought the balance would be paid when the case has been resolved.

    What is the norm?

    You'll have more luck in Legal Issues perhaps, but I took a claim against an insurance company a few years back and not a single euro left my account for theirs until the case was settled. I understand that riskier cases may have upfront fees. What about a no-win, no-fee solicitor?

    There is no "norm" and any such "norm" would be anti-competitive. So you're free to agree whatever terms you wish with the solicitor, including half now and half in 30 days time.

    You can also go to a different solicitor if you are unhappy with the fee structure.
