How is the work situation in the west of ireland

    We are currently living in Auckland New Zealand and we want to come back home, we have had enough! We do not want to go back to Dublin. we have been looking at moving west any information or advice would be most welcome. Thanks:)

    It depends on the industry I suppose. There's a fair bit of IT going right now. Not so much in most others. Construction is still a dead duck.

    You'll find a lot of the local papers online now, it might be worth keeping an eye on them to see what kind of jobs come up.

    Thanks for the replies, Im completely new to this site and have no idea where the hell Im posting things. We are looking at headford to rent a house, anyone know what its like to commute from? Is there a primary school? Secondary school?

    There are both primary and secondary schools there.

    Headford is small so choices will be limited.

    If you can be more specific with your needs it'll be easier to help.
    How many will be moving over? Kids' ages?
    Will you have work waiting?
    Activities outside school/work that you're into?
    etc

    Also, have a read of the many previous threads on the topic of moving to Galway, many questions may be answered already and you might get ideas there too.
