I have Soviet Strike and Nuclear Strike on the PS3....those games were SUPERB!, just endless hours of gameplay and replayability.

I used to rent out the Megadrive *just* to play Desert Strike!, if there is one IP that needs a reboot it is this!

Never played them back in the day but I've played them extensively on emulator since. Cracking game. Definitely would like to see a reboot/remake.

Desert Strike, Jungle Strike and Urban Strike played a massive part of my gaming childhood on the Megadrive.

I am not ashamed to admit that I sent EA a letter when I was about 6 or 7, explaining in great detail that I had an idea for a fantastic follow up to Urban Strike. It was called Land, Sea and Air Strike. Whereby you controlled tanks, submarines and jets/helicopters. I even drew them maps on old fax paper. Even more surprising was that they wrote back thanking me for my ideas :D

Therefore, I am taking full credit for the development of Nuclear Strike, as you were able to pilot different vehicles :p

I remember some very annoying escort missions. Great games though, (assuming the old rose-tinted specs arent deceiving me.) Didn't even know there were current gen sequels.

Loved the series. Soviet Strike was my first Strike game and first PS1 game. It took me a bit to master it as it was the first game I ever played that gave you free roam of sorts.

Played the crap out of Soviet and then Nuclear Strike. Then that was the end of it and Future Cop came along next. They even teased it with Hack and the end of Nuclear Strike.

But the last level in Moscow in Soviet escorting Boris Yeltzin as he stops off a Mc D's on the way the airport, class.:D.

There are no current gen sequels or even last gen. The PS1 and Saturn days were the last time these games roamed in the wild.

Th theme music on the Mega Drive for Desert, Jungle and Urban(which was near frank zappa style with guitars) is still one of my favourites.
The SNES music is an absolute travesty though :(

Don't know about a reboot. Maybe if someone was tech savvy enough to 'reinvent' it and do it thru kickstarter. And by 'reinvent' I mean 'rip off as much as possible without allowing EA to sue'. It could be 'Human Strike' where you play the part of an Alien pilot flying a UFO, destroying the oil derricks, military installations and various human invader structures in order to liberate your planet. OKay I got the story down, aaronh007 can design the levels. Anyone else?

Needs a HD reboot. Same isometric perspective, same gameplay, sexier graphics

I LOVED those back in the day, but I dont know if I would love them now.

They were very unforgiving games. I had a lot of nerdrage playing those games. Thing is, it was one of the games which would let you drive different stuff in same mission. how excited I was to jump from helicopter in to a Jet, or a tank. It was a big novelty back then. I dont think it would do that well now.

I had DS on my Game Gear but I could never figure out how to get that damned submarine....

Urban Strike blew my mind when I saw it. I remember my brothers playing it and it was amazing to me to see the pilot get out and do missions on foot.

I used to hate those on foot levels, spent a ridiculous amount of time playing urban strike back in the day. Nuclear strike was pretty good too, the North Korean dmz level was mental, tanks/choppers and artillery all available to use as you saw fit-brilliant.

Soviet Strike has the single greatest mission in any game ever.

You have to protect Boris Yeltsin's while he drives a family SUV and escort it to it's destination. Halfway through the mission Boris Yeltsin decides to take a detour to the nearest off license to buy more vodka. You have to then defend the offo while Boris gets his booze.

I'm not even making this **** up.

At least people actually read your posts retro.

What was that other mission with Dracula in it (Not on the Moscow level). I think he is an Easter Egg when you blow up a building. It's around a mission where you have to mark a salt mine with a laser designater so a Tomahawk can hit it.

The other one in Moscow where you have to drop a captured drunk Russian general in the bear pen at the zoo so he will spill the beans and then pick him up before the bears kill him. Class missions.

played these back in the day jungle was my fav by miles these really don need a reboot as does "road Rash"

I would be afraid of a reboot because I can see it turning to Michael Bay crap like Ace Combat Assault Horizon turned into. On rails shooting, set pieces and way OTT action. And besides we'd never get those class feature movies clips again that were all the rage in games in the mid '90s.

It was a big novelty back then. I dont think it would do that well now.
If it had a proper story line, it would probably fail. If it was pure action thing, such as Super Meat Boy, it could go well on the PC.

Bringing it back purely on the iPhone/Andoid/Windows thing/etc could work very well, but it all depends on EA letting someone make it.

I only bought Desert Strike and Jungle Strike on the Megadrive during the week. they are still great, you really have to plan out how you will tackle missions. The Danger Zones idea was excellent. It forced you to think about what order you complete missions because in a Danger Zone you ended up taking twice the damage. They can be removed depending on what mission you complete.

They still hold up really well although I can see younger gamers complaining about the tank controls.

Loved the series. Soviet Strike was my first Strike game and first PS1 game. It took me a bit to master it as it was the first game I ever played that gave you free roam of sorts.

Using the map and having a free roam and making sure your fuel or ammo was nearby, at the time this blew me away. It had tight controls, good sound and music, and it had a nice difficulty curve (it wasnt impossible, a bit of practise would get you through a level)

The PS1 then started using some serious over the top FMV (reminds me of the CnC FMVs)

I think games like G-Police and other 3D open world shooters ended this game type just like the change in EA's FiFA Soccer from isometric to 3D

I had a lot of fun with the 'Strike' series

One of my favourite scenarios was using the MLRS barrage on Nuclear Strike to take out dozens of enemy tanks. There really was nothing like it!!

Soviet and Nuclear are on the US playstation store, if you have a US account [or create one] and buy a US PSN card [lots of websites for this] you can grab them.

I think EA has a big IP just sitting there doing nothing, at the *very* least re-release all the games on PS3/Xbox for worldwide.

G Police was quality(the first one was anyway). I wouldn't mind seeing that remade.

Absolutely. Never met anyone else who played and like this game! It was brilliant for the PS1 back in the day.

If it ever gets remade that's me buying the console just for that.
