Using Boxee Cloud DVR with a Monitor

So I rarely watch tv (stream mostly online) and I'm considering ditching tv completely and getting boxee with a hd monitor. While there is some info on boards about the original boxee box - has anyone tried the new cloud dvr?

Some things I'm concerned about before making the purchase;

1. Can I use boxee with a pc monitor and wifi only (i.e without a tv or pc)?
2. Can you browse the web? or are you limited to native boxee apps?

Not a direct answer to your question but it appears that the company behind Boxee has been bought out by Samsung. No details have been released yet about what that means for the service going forward.

The Cloud DVR service will be shutdown on July 10th.

Boxee seems to quickly abandon everything they have ever been involved in.
