Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Insurance/License Question

Do insurance companies ask for a copy of my license? I can't find mine anywhere as I thought it was always in the glove box for the past ~6 months but don't remember being asked for my license last time I bought insurance through a broker. Thing is, I've been offered a much better renewal online with a different broker 123.ie but just wondering do I need to send them a copy of my license or what way does it work?

Will apply for a new license obviously but insurance is out a week now and want to buy insurance Monday.

    Thanks all!

A lot of them ask you for your license number these days afaik rather than for a copy of the license itself. They must have access to a database where they can check for points/endorsements, etc. If you apply for a replacement now you will get the new credit card type license but I think there is bit of a wait due to backlog.

The broker I used asked for a photocopy or scan of my license. Depends on the company I guess.

I'm with 123.ie and they didn't ask for a copy of my licence.

Did they ask for a license number?

    This..

And if they do, do they check the database or is that in the event of an accident I honestly can't remember how many points I have or unless they've been removed due to time. NUISANCE!!!!:mad:

123, FBD (privately) and Quinn/Liberty have never asked for my licence or number.

Zurich, QBE and oddly enough FDB on the work fleet did.

Yeah I've been asked for licence almost every time I've changed company.
Usually a photocopy have been sufficient.

In the 12 years I've been driving, this year was the first time I was ever asked for a copy of my license. Had a problem faxing the copy off but the girl said the license number was sufficient. With Zurich.
