They appear to be opening across from Authurs Quay on the corner close to Vodafone (old bank).

Saw lights in there today as I passed so should be hearing more soon.

Anything ever happen or was Boojum just another M&S style rumour?

Even without taking the quality in to account, Boojum wins on having the €6.50 student deal and loyalty cards alone.

There aren't too many students living in the city though, not anything like the other Irish cities anyway.

Presumably they'll be on deliveroo like they are in Cork. And personally I'd definitely brave the 304 for a Boojum..

If there was any doubt of Boojum opening after the Nando's disaster, it's all now gone. Passed there today and there signs on the window.

We were up in Galway yesterday and had one. My diet and running will be seriously affected 🌯🌯🌯🌯🌯🌯

Wondering that too. I thought they'd be open before Christmas, but not looking likely now.

Shouldn’t be too long with a little luck.

Yes, I created this account just for the Burrito Wars thread!

Who here is mexican? Who has lived in the southern half of north america? Who has had any familiarity with the local cuisines there? None of you? Then shuuuuuuut up.

Guess who meets all the above criteria: ME.

I had MFD and that was a hilarious experience. NONE of their menu tastes REMOTELY mexican. I know that they claim to have a "gringo" twist to their food, but I would say it's a close-minded domination rather than a benign twist. Way to go, guys. Their burritos looked like an irish grandma packed the leftovers from christmas dinner into a tortilla wrap (yellow uncle bens rice? what the hell?). The nachos should be labeled "euro-mom's failed nachos" on the menu!

Badass Burritos is as close to mexican authenticity as you're gonna get in Limerick. Dissenters who claim that the ingredients aren't up to par need to come correct with some examples. I know the system and have asked for her sources. Champion assortment.

I'd wager that the dissenters would be those that rubbed that irish lady the wrong way. She can peg whiney babies on first glance. Her customer service is hilariously hit or miss because of this intolerance. I fully support it and laugh along with her about it. I ain't looking to have my hole licked when I go for a burrito... I go for a burrito and that's it.

As for Boojums, I'll be testing that out to see how it matches up. Boojums enters the arena, but the war is over. Maggs commands the area! All HAIL!

You know what else meets the criteria - taste buds. You know who has them? Everyone.

Your taste buds lack a frame of reference.

Obvious case in point. Been here a few years on residency and irish ideas on what constitutes "spicy" is weeeeeak as fuuuuu...fudge. You guys simply do not know these cuisines to criticize them. No frame of reference.

I think if you can taste food you are fully entitled to criticise the **** out of it if you so wish - imaginary "requirements to critique" like you describe are just snobbish nonsense.

That particular point Mags Kyanite makes is fair though, and the question of whether something tastes 'authentic' is a separate issue of whether something tastes good or bad (if something claims to be authentic, that is)

I've been to Kyoto restuaurant in Limerick, for example, as well as having lived in Japan for years. It has a good reputation and the food is grand, but there are a few dishes that are not really authentic at all (whether this is just to keep costs down, difficulty of sourcing ingredients, or simply not knowing that it is not authentic, I don't know).

I lived in Tucson for 9 months and spent 3 months in the Sonora region in Mexico.

Agree completely on MFD..some of the blandest food I have every had.

AS for Badass, I have had worse, had way better.
Her carnitas can be ok....but authentic...not really at all.
Her pico is missing jalapenos and coriander, or there is so little of them in there its hard to notice. Same for the lime.
her guacamole is only ok, when she has it.
The tortillas are not good imo. They always seem rubbery.
Not into the chicken or mince beef there...no flavour at all and her beans are just beans.

Boojum aren't authentic either, but I'd take them over the 2 above any day. At least they'll be open and have the food you want and their food is full of flavour. Their lime rice is lovely, as is their pico and their meats are very tasty,.

    my 2c

A friend of mine is from California and she's eaten burrito's in the Burrito homeland and has said Mag's burritos, dont even come close to the mission style they represent.

I agree with most of what Tototoe posted. I've certainly had better (of course. We are talkin' mexican food behind the ireland curtain).

However, I prefaced my cheerleading rant with

"Badass Burritos is as close to mexican authenticity as you're gonna get in Limerick"

    on purpose.

I know, I know. Reading comprehension is so tricky.

As for those that think they've sleuthed my identity; ain't gonna happen, folks.
