Drought continues here. One light shower registered 0.2mm rain, barely enough to wet the roads. Far far far more needed please. Ireland is supposed to be green !

6 or seven lightning flashes here in North Cork despite no rain. The last one knocked out the street lamps temporarily and one of our TVs! All back now though.

    Love the photo.

Brought back memories of the last thunder storm (that I can remember) which was followed by snow for 2 weeks and yes I did check this morning to see if it was snowing:D

Had a whopper of a storm here in Hannover last night. Been threathening all week as it was over 30 C yesterday. Had a smaller lightening show last Wednesday driving from Amsterdam but the rain that came with it was biblical. Warning of aquaplaning on the autobahn. We couldn't clear the windscreen even at max setting.
There were some strikes last night over the hills to the north of us that kept flashing in rapid succession whilst the strikes over where we are staying were so powerful some must have lingered for half a second. Storm moved on quickly enough but fab while it went on. Forecast is for more high temps today so hopefully tonight will kick off again.:)

7th day in a row where Arklow's temp has reached 23c..after the heatwave.
Even reached it yesterday too, just before all the thunder.
Given most of July also was above 22c in sea breeze Arklow, this is indeed an unusual summer.
Probably wont do it tomorrow, but might go above 20 again.
To paraphrase someone else ;) Where is this place and what have they done with the real Arklow?

Travelled home from to Dublin where it was nasty and quite chilly to Naas where it was remarkably warmer, just got home and checked my PWS, temp @ 21℃ humidity through the roof at near 90%, it feels horribly sticky, worse than any of the nights through the very hot weather.
