I would, those stations may be badly maintained at times but not too far out.
The Arklow by pass one almost mirrors my Davis for example.

Strong refreshing heaven sent sea breeze here and circa 20c

I actually think its been a really nice summer to date, certainly for the east anyway. I took holidays around Ireland for 10 days from beginning to mid June and the weather was really warm and sunny throughout. Since then, there has been a good bit of cloud but very little rain. I play a decent bit of golf and bar one day when up in the north west i dont recall having the waterproofs on at all since end of May.

It has definitely been the best summer in years from what i have seen. Maybe other parts of the country have been less fortunate?? The last really nice warm summer i can recall was in 2005. Certainly there seemed to be very few bad rainfall days that summer.

Beautiful out there at the moment

I meant to say, dont even get me started with the summer of 1995 !! that was the best I can remember. 1995............2005..............look forward to 2015, not taking any holidays abroad that summer

    29.7C in Oranmore? http://irelandsweather.com/

Wonder if it will hit 30 by the end of the day

Not an official station though so may not be quite that high.

I'd say some places will hit 30 this week, whether that happens at an official Met Eireann station though remains to be seen. 27 is the highest so far on those but tomorrow will be warmer.

In other news, I can barely see my laptop screen outside.

    What is the highest recorded?
the highest air temperature recorded in Ireland was + 33.3°C at Kilkenny Castle 26th June 1887

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,138 ✭✭✭snaps

    What is the highest recorded?

33.3? Would that have been an official or unoffical temp, ie like the stations on Ireland weather network?

Temperatures across the country definitely got into the 30s in summer of 1995 too. Pretty sure they were close to that figure of 33.3 too. Not bad considering hottest temperature ever recorded in London is 37.4 degrees, 41.4 degrees is record for Paris. 30 degrees is the record for Edinburgh

28 at the Oak Park Met Eireann station.

+4 warmer than what this morning's GFS was showing for that area at 3pm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,802 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

And we've got an official 28C at Oak Park at 3pm. May not top 30 anywhere today but this building heat will certainly make it more likely in the coming days

Shannon AP playing catch up and reporting 28c at 1530.

28C in Limerick - glorious blue sky. Went outside for 5 minutes at 4pm; It felt pleasantly Mediterranean but not oppressive - probably due to the 54% humidity.
    Feels like a different country!

Not in Galway, pissing down mist all Saturday then dull on Sunday, sun comes out as I hop on a Citylink back to Dublin, now sitting in a greenhouse of an office thinking about taking a year off

Why can't I stand 29 degrees now but 36+ was bearable in Spain last year?

ahh, didnt realise Galway got it bad over the weekend. Certainly making up for it now even if many of us are not getting the opportunity to enjoy it !!! killer looking out in the direction of phoenix park. Bet the animals at the African plains of Dublin zoo are loving this ! The snowy owl on the other hand is probably in a world of pain

Waterford city high of 26.3°C today. Not too shabby given the breeze.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,007 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

Absolutely scorching go Galway city. Dunno if we'll be able for soccer training this evening!

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 18,518 Mod ✭✭✭✭DOCARCH

    What does that map mean?

It means it's 'melting' in Ireland...just another normal summers day in the rest of Europe. :p

24.0c here atm. High so far of 24.4c.

28 at the Oak Park Met Eireann station.

+4 warmer than what this morning's GFS was showing for that area at 3pm.

Coastal breeze is not as... breezy as it was expected to be. As matter of fact it's by and large completely calm with the odd flow of warm air.
