In hindsight do you still think it was a good idea to run DCM?

Also I appreciate your overly generous use of the word "run"

I was being generous using the term "run":), the reason i asked is i am not sure if Monday served any real purpose for you to what you already knew.
The only purpose it serves for me is that i can now say Mrs JB ran a faster marathon than you in DCM14, thats quality material for me to work with for the next few years:)

I knew when i watched you going by at mile 3.5 that you would be walking at some point, no way was that kamikaze pace sustainable given your condition. I cannot say anything as i employed the same tactics in London this year albeit in much better condition and with training behind me.

My Dads comment when he seen you in the park, "jesus Dave looks fvked already and he still has 23miles to run".

It did serve a real purpose.

You can and she did well.

We all knew that, the question was where would it happen. I suspect without the ITB around 28km

    Very accurate.

Putting this here as would get savaged on the main board for it.

I like DCT, I think its one of the best races on the calendar.
    However........
It is in the Phoenix park, road closures come from the OPW, it touches 50m of public roads. (Phoenix park roads aren't the same as public roads). It doesn't deal with councils and is contained in a small area.

Its a world of a jump to.......

Start of the 2015 race calendar

    Rahenhy 5 miler
    Kinvara half
BallyCotton 10 miler (not sure on this cause its Cork like boy and a way away)
    DCM 5 miler
    DCM 10km
    DCM 10 miler
    DCM Half
    DCM

Any other good races? Might do some BHAA races as well

good: having the required qualities; of a high standard.
    "a good restaurant"
    synonyms: fine, of high quality, of a high standard, quality, superior;

Fun(or fast) course, reasonable price, good organisation.

I have never done Ballycotton, but Mallow 10 mile is hands down one of the best races in the country (also in March) - fast course and about €15 to enter. Closer than Ballycotton, on in the afternoon so you can make a day trip to it.

There is a new 10 mile in Trim in January (same weekend as Raheny 5) which might be worth looking at.

That one is close-ish to me, from what I hear it's a good one, but tough. Also, you get gridlocked into Ballycotton for the weekend.....Also, it fills up very quick!!

Not sure I can justify a night away from the family for a ten as well as the Kinvara half. And NOT bring three kids and a wife to a running race. #bored

Went for a walk at lunch to loosen the legs - oh the irony.

Comments over the last day or so - these are from family
"David did a walking tour of Dublin at the weekend"
"Didn't Aoibhe do a sponsored walk too recently?"
"Was a fine day for a stroll"

To give Jackyback his dues he is trying to get the digs in, but to be honest he is being outclassed by my family and the in laws on this one.

Dave - "Give me a 30min, heck even a 40min handicap and i will still finish ahead of your wife in DCM"
Fran - "Are you sure Dave, her training has gone well and she has a fantastic coach helping her out. As for you, well you have not done much"
Dave - "I will easily beat her, i am not that bad"

    Actual results
    Dave - 4:28:11
    Michelle - 4:11:37

Looks like we got the handicaps wrong and should have gave Dave a 15min headstart to make it a fairer contest. Must go change my sig to "My Mrs can run faster than Tunney" Thats you and MLOC she has now chicked, Tango is next on the list!

The above convo may or may not be true but who cares:pac:

Yup she did well. A good day out for her.

Unlike some around here I am neither sexist, nor patronising towards women, and I view my wife as my equal not as inferior. As such I see no issue with being beaten by your wife.

Obviously emotions are still raw, perhaps its just too soon, i will leave you alone for a while.
