you mentioned "engaging glutes, hamstrings and hip flexors" do you have any documentation or suggestions on how this is done correctly ?

So I decided to let myself go the last two night. The last few weeks have seen my "let myself go" change from a bottle of red, a bag of jellies and two bags of crisps. Now just a bag of crisps. Chuffed then that still the weight is coming off. I forgot how much I love running everyday.

I assume that's because you've cut out the junk food and you're no longer craving it?

As an aside. I have thrown out the box for the 920xt. Says alot about where I feel the build quality is.

Any running races you would add to this? Not going to do them all just want to get a list of potentials. What a fast 5km and 10km on there.

    22/02/15 Adare 10km
    07/03/15 Kinvara half
    15/03/15 St Patricks day 5km
    11/04/15 Great Dublin run (10km)
    26/04/15 Samsung Night run 10km
    03/05/15 Tallaght AC 5km
    25/05/15 RTE Five miler
    27/06/15 DCM 5 miler
    19/07/15 DCM 10km
    22/08/15 DCM 10 miler
    18/09/15 DCM Half
    26/10/15 DCM

From what I understand I wouldn't bother with the Samsung unless just for fun. Tight course, lot of turns, kerbs and busy roads.

Don't want to encourage it but the odd visit now and again is good for fact finding http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=88335302.

    2 years of poor reviews.

Pretty sure the Dunshaughlin 10km is fast. Think it's on around mid-June. Few club mates PB'ed there last year.

As has been mentioned, wouldn't bother with Samsung. Crap city centre course. The Great Dublin Run is a **** course and jam packed. Not worth your while uniess you're AAI affiliated and get to start in the club runners pen.
Lots of great evening 5K's on in May and June as part of the Meath summer race series, keep an eye out for all the Meath races. They're al good.
Leixlip 5k in May is a good race and fast course, Lucan also in May, a good 5K course (bit boring though and a couple of crap turns in the park onto bridges)

Dunshaughlin 10K is around the same time as DCM 5 miler, could be the week before it.

Maybe check out k-club 10K too.

Scratch the night run and the great Ireland run. They are both over priced, overcrowded crap. Do the BHAA Kclub 10k instead. It's always on around the same time and €15 for a great and super fast race.

DunShaughlin 10k in June is consistently the best 10k in Leinster IMO. St Cocas 5k in Kilcock is always on the week after Dunshaughlin and another gem of a race.

Right. New Year new me. AHAHAHAH not.

This year I am focusing on being getting on in work, being a good husband and a great dad.
    Bhí subh milis,
    Ar bhaschrann an dorais,
    Ach mhúch mé an corraí,
    Ionam d’éirigh,
Mar smaoinigh mé ar an lá,
    A bheas an baschrann glan,
    Agus an láimh bheag,
    Ar iarraidh.

After that I am going to do my best to be a reasonable runner.
    • More running
    • Less junk
    • Less alcohol
    • More maintenance work
    • More massage
    • More fun
    • More races

Really though I am and always will be a triathlete, simply by virtue that I love to swim, bike and run. So I will do what I can on these too but I can see there being difficulty fitting these in, at least for a while.

I'm usually guilty of stupidly ambitious weekly plans so with that in mind here goes 2015 Week 2

Not a great week training wise. Just cannot get moving.
Not slipping back into old habits and wasting another year.
This weekend race calendar and goals finalised and that should kick start things again!

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,583 ✭✭✭✭tunney

I don't mind running in rain, cold, ice, snow, sun. But wind..... especially when your route exposes you to a huge fetch...... grrrrrrrrr........

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,583 ✭✭✭✭tunney

It was suggested to me that a January goal for running could be December 2014 running plus 10%.
274km in December so lets go for 300km in January!

i did mine mainly through the streets today (actually on part of your route) to try and get some protection from buildings. I didnt want to have half the run into a wall of wind which would have been the case on the normal route.

Tried the same, came back the way through the IFSC proper.

Definitely think there should be legislation that indemnifies people who knock people walking while engrossed in their phones on their holes.

    Monday 12th January
    Lunch run

    http://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/672007929

The sun was glistening off the sea out by Clontarf. Such a relaxing view.
The sun was not glistening off the junkie scum on Amien street on they way back.

Right leg (see not being specific) sore towards the end, will bash it with a brick or something later and hope the pain goes away.
