Felt like shít the last week or two and training wasn't nice or fun. Dragged my a$$ out of the house on Saturday for a waddle around the area. Felt rough as fvck and reckoned it would be a miserable horrible 5 minute per km affair. Imagine my surprise when it was a 4:29 easy paced run with everything feeling like it was moving like it should. Still felt like crap though.

Monday still feeling crap but same result on the run and a new vo2max estimate as well.

Tuesday and today still not feeling 100% and the running is a tad slower but still feels like running, as opposed to waddling which I had been doing.

Even swam this week and serviced my road bike in preparation for maybe going for a cycle.

Do you run down by the IFSC in a red cap?

Do you work or run in the area?

Yeah, changed work locations fairly recently - kept seeing a face I recognised out on my runs but couldn't for the life of me figure out where from. Dawned on me today. I'll wave next time I see you!

(I was going on to the east link bridge while you were coming off it today)

Out most days from IFSC house, out to Sean Moore park at back minimum, further if legs and day allow it. Always happy to have company.

Meet Tango and Dr Jaundice some days.

Swam last night. I get a problem with my left shoulder when I return to swimming so kept it short until I get my catch and pull right on that side.

Met a lad in the pool. Got talking triathlon and he mentioned about a club called "GoDraft" and how they had their own draft legal NS this year. Took me a second but I asked was he talking about "GoPace". He was.

    Reputations tend to stick.

Over the past while I've had some interesting chats with people I work with.
One was about the importance of sticking to the plan, just doing the plan and not adding silly things to it because of impatience. Consistency being the key.
One was about the importance of "slowly slowly catchy monkey" and a multi-annual plan, the long game.
Another was about triathlon in general - running form, swimming form, weight, nutrition. I got rather animated and passionate.

These conversations acted like a mirror on my training. Unfortunately they didn't result in an epiphany.

An encounter and conversation with a Wexford senior hurler did though. Okay it was more me talking at them than with them but the end result the same.

And now in this new enlightened state and with renewed clarity
