Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hey guys, typing with one hand here, so will keep it brief.
crashed last tuesday, need help choosing a solicitor.

T-boned a car doing a u-turn *Snipped* I had very little time react but managed to reduce my speed a lot, prob hit her at 45-55kph. I hit her driverside rear tyre in the middle of my lane. got thrown a good bit over her car down the road, rolled off the road and lay on the grass, passersby came over told me not to move, so i didn't. My face was pointed skyward for the next 6 hours. So i have no more info from the scene.

I found out which garda was at the scene (there were several) but she has been elusive. And have not talked to her.

The insurance company assigned me a solicitor, but i doubt she's got my interests at heart, because she takes her pay on top of the claim, not as part of it, so she'll just rush through the process.

Do you guys know any solicitors that specialise in motorbike accidents? Also, in your experience, is this accident my fault? I feel like i had very little control over what happened and that i got away from the accident luckily with just a broken wrist, scratched knee and painful whiplash.

How close were you to the car? Was she stopped at the side of the road and pulled out suddenly?

prob less than 50 meters when she pulled out.
Yes, she was pulled into a farm entrance pointed forward on the left hand side, i hit her when she was mid u-turn to go back in the direction behind me.

    *Snipping details*

So if I have this right, she was pulled in off the road in an entrence, with her car pointing in the direction you were travelling, then pulled out to turn back against you and you impacted her right, rear wheel?

Has she admitted liability? What info has the Guard who attended the scene given you?

Yes, you are right, the garda has not contacted me, and i have no details of her car, she stayed with me for a while, so im sure she handed her details.

Were you speeding? Be careful here if you answer this the wrong way you could put yourself right in the **** so if you'd rather not say just ignore this.

Of course he wasn't speeding! Right, OP?

You wont get any asnwers here....and I dont think its wize to be talking about the crash here, while its still and ongoing situation.

You need a road traffic accident solicitor and then a crash investigation engineer.

The insurance company and/or solicitor will get this sorted for you.

He/she will determin the layout and who was at fault.

Skid marks are also a very good indicator as to speed and distance traveled when deciding the accident scene and who was at fault.

Get an engineer to do a report for you for any pending court case.

For insurance and injury case........Who ever you assign to your case, make sure they are experienced in dealing with RTAs and know the exact procedures for cases like yours.

An engineer will take a visit to the crash scene, take photos and measurements of scene and take photos of crash damage to both car and bike.

The engineer will also take into account the legal speed limit in the location of the crash scene

Engineer will take statements from you and other party involved and also look at the layout and any obstructions aswell.

The engineer will also request statement from gardai and then he/she will compile a full report on the accident and who and what (if any) was to blame for the accident and what contributed to the accident happening.

The gardai will also do the usual and ask you to present a valid insurance/tax and restriction cert (if one applies here) to a garda station of your choice within 10 days or so.

But,as allready said above...make sure that the solicitor is experienced in RTAs.

Oh and hope you make a full recovery.

Do what the hospital and doctors tell you to do and take it easy while recovering.

    Dont try to rush things.

Keep a hold of all medical reports/statements and any medical bills too....(for solicitor and your own records)

    Best Regards.

    ****.

gws buddy. hope it's nothing serious - ****e, broken wrists suck

    don't admit anything to anyone.

keep on at the guard to get her details and keep on top of your insurance that they don't accept liability.

i presume your bike is the write off? your insurance will prolly send an engi out to assess the damage to your both vehicles.

a car doing a u-turn on a main road? can't see how you'd be at fault at all but insurance works in funny ways :(

Mods can delete this thread as my question has been answered.

But could someone add an answer to this question in the FAQ? I must have missed it if there was one.
