Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ride on Mower Cutter won't engage

I have a Castelgarden twin cut 13.5/90 (2008) and the cutter just stopped working. I have been using it all summer and it has been fine. I set off cutting with it today and it was fine for filling the first box. I put the box back on and turned on the engine fine. When I pulled the button to engage the blades it just cut the engine. The engine will run fine on it's own and the mower drives but once I engage the cutter it cuts out. Can anyone please help.

Sounds like a safety feature is kicking in to cut out the lawnmower when you engage the blades eg hand brake might be on. If the mower kept running when you attempt to engage the blades I would say a faulty switch , low battery or clutch problems. I'm not a technician but have had probs in the past with blades not engaging on a ride on mower.

    Hi Bartron,

Very carefully, with the engine off, and the battery disconnected just have a feel under the deck, do the blades turn? Have you clogged it up with grass?

Just try not to cut yourself when checking.

    Hope this helps.

    Lol Bartron,

    No worries, these things happen.

I have taken stuff in the past to my mechanic before that doesn't work only to find I have missed something really obvious.

At least your mower is working again.
