01 Golf - EPC light has come on, still drives but odd power loss.

    I have often bummed on here about how reliable my 01 VW 1.4 Golf was with 140k on the clock.

    Unfortunately today the yellow EPC light came. I noticed before this happened, the car seemed to lose power for a split second while driving. As if engine cut out for blip then restarted (hope that describes it).

    This happened maybe another 5 or 6 times on my commute home. And the odd time the EPC light went out for a few miles. But its currently back on.

    I Google'd and it sounds like I will have to get it hooked up to a diagnostic system to be sure, but anyone able to point me in the right direction based on what I describe?
