    Cork 1-4 Sligo.

Not too optimistic I must admit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,056 ✭✭✭applehunter

City haven't shown anything at home this season to suggest they can trouble Sligo.

Kilduff should start and will be a big step up from Furlong who is a total passenger in the team at the moment.

    0-1

    1-0 for City.

Mick Cooke apparently suddenly wants Sunday's game called off. **** off.

Bit late for that carry on. The whole postponing games for European ties is ridiculous.

Do I remember the FAI vetoing somebody doing it last year when both teams were willing?

Afternoon trip to Drogheda, hopefully a win to top it off!

Bray v Cork maybe? Nothing to do with Europe though. Nearest any of them (or us) getting to Europe is a last minute deal to the Canaries.

    That was it yeah.

Also, if Mick Cooke is concerned about the fitness of his players for the trip to Sweden he should just field the under 19s on Sunday. Win win situation.

Haven't heard anything regarding that but I remember a few years back they moved a game twice for Shels and they even asked a third time to go and jump. Think Drogs eventually beat them in the fixture. Jayo got sent off and Ollie Byrne assaulted a camera man if memory serves correctly.

As it is I can't see the need to postpone it, a game Sunday and then again on Thursday sounds almost ideal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,597 ✭✭✭dan1895

Remember that match, last minute madness. Drogs scored what looked like the winner with minutes to go after Ndo played a backpass that was intercepted. The lino puts up his flag, everyone stops except the Drogheda striker but the ref correctly waves play on. Jayo scored a free in injury time and ran the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of the away support.

Pats tried it back in 2011 too after one of the IBV games.

We are stuck in the relegation mire. Nobody should be getting any favours from us regardless of any circumstances.

I may be tempting fate, but it looks like it could be a warm, even pleasant evening to be in the Carlisle Grounds for the first time in eternity.

0-0/0-1/1-0 miserable game as ever though.

  • Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 23,231 Mod ✭✭✭✭GLaDOS

Is Zayed eligible for Rovers tonight?

All optimism gone regarding Bohs at this point.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Wrong. The Carlisle is an anomaly. No matter how good the weather or how high the temperature even 10 yards away, that place is always freezing and windy.

Can't argue with that. Go well prepared despite the forecast.

    Limerick beat Bohs 1-0

    Axel Boss with the goal

    I'll take that result.

Mulvenna you beauty! Came on as a sub in the 87th minute. Scores the winner in the 90th. Great result for Dundalk tonight up in the Brandywell. We've shown some resilience this season. We've lost five games so far and after every loss we've immediately bounced back with a win.

Nice little run of games coming up now as well with Bohs and Bray at home and Cork away.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 4,719 ✭✭✭dundalkfc10

Get in Mulvenna, After last week I assumed are slim chances of a title shot were over.

Maybe were back in with a shout considering Derry play Rovers and Sligo play Pats while we have Bohs at home, followed by Cork and Bray

Just back from City-Sligo. Sligo seemed happy enough to pass the ball around without really wanting to have attempts on goal at all, it was strange to see really. Ndo's howler for the first one, misplaced a pass back to the centre halves and Horgan skipped past him and buried it in bottom right corner. Wasn't much of a reaction from Sligo either really, a few half shots but zero penetration.

Kilduff makes such a difference, a presence up front for the first time this season. Delighted he got his goal. Sligo's centre halves were appalling tonight. Daryl was average enough in his general play but 2 great finishes. Hopefully can build on that, but too many false dawns to get overexcited.

    That's a dream night for Pat's.

Daryl Horgan is the LOI Messi.

He scored another worldy for his first. His second was a cracker too.

Sligo passed the ball at ease in first half some lovely play but getting nowwhere in final third. Ndo had fine game up to Citys first.

We are not playing great, but Kilduff made huge difference tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,056 ✭✭✭applehunter

    Great to get the win.

Will take positives from Kilduff's performance and Daryl showed his superb finishing skills again. Gives hope for the rest of the season.

Still for most part it was very poor again as yet another side came to the Cross and dominated.

Attendance of 1,500 says it all.

Bar the win I really enjoyed watching Ndo's performance. Class act.

Strange that coming from a langer seeing as you were fined for racist abuse of a Bray player two months ago

Really starting to loose confidence in Callaghan at this stage. Our home record is absolutely atrocious. We're so tactically naive its unreal.

We just keep passing the ball around with everyone of the players afraid to take a shot. It's so frustrating. Can really see us going down this year. :(

Daryl Horgan's celebrations are how it should be done.

None of this muted celebration against former teams rubbish.

City shouldn't be allowed on TV in their current state.

Wonder Goals are papering over cracks at Cross.

Although we were ok in 2nd half tonight.

Athlone deservedly took all 3 points against the Youths with some very slick passing and one very well taken goal. Youths were poor in all areas and put in the weakest home performance of the season. Athlone were backed by by a strong vocal support who made the trip but I have to say the language was atrocious.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,761 ✭✭✭AgileMyth

Doing our best to throw this league away. 3 awful mistakes for the goals. Didn't create anything. Missing all of our wingers didn't help but still should be beating Cork.

Must win game next week. Play like we did last night and we won't be beating anyone.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

Cracks? Poor performance? Sligo dominated? Come on lads. Sligo had a lot of ball in the first half but our players were happy to watch them do nothing with it.

2nd half we took the game to them and got what we deserved. Best performance since we got promoted imo. Play like that next week and we will have too much for Shells. Then we will have back to back wins for the first time in a long time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,056 ✭✭✭applehunter

If that is the case then that says a lot.

For me City haven't come close to matching that 15 mins after half time against Bohs yet this season.

Why would they be happy to let Sligo have the ball?

Probably being harsh but something still not sitting right with the way the team approaches games.
