Flash of lightning west of galway must have been really far away couldnt hear any thunder

Looking at the lightning detector the strikes were way out on the west coast didnt think you could see lightning from that far away

Here in north Kilkenny we have clear skies but the very western skies has the clouds which are so tall we can see the flashes from the west of the country.

    Very consistent flashes.

Turned out it was fireworks :(

Quite an active lightning/thunderstorm here in south mayo at the moment. Fell asleep with curtains open and have actually been awoken by flashes of lightning illuminating the room. Accompanied by very loud long rolls of thunder. Seems to be getting further away now. Was initially right overhead.

Last night around 10pm there was a decent bit of lightning activity here in West Limerick :)

Lights off and curtain open time. I went outside to view and listen to the activity.

Electricity supply was lost around 10.10pm and it was an hour later that I got throught to the ESB to report the fault. Restoration was around half past midnight.

Pity the thunder activity didn't last longer as it was pretty intense.

The misty and murky weather meant the landscape wasn't lit up in the same was as if it was a clearer night but none the less, an interesting 20 minutes :D, well worth the loss of electricity to see the flashes and hear the thunder :D

Had lightning through the night. It was not continuous but every 20/30 mins there were a few flashes. Most of it would have passed over without us knowing if not for one of the dogs who is driven mad by ligthning and thunder. Very little thunder accompanied the ligthning.

Checked http://brunnur.vedur.is/athuganir/eldingar/i_dag_na.html to confirm the amount of activity. Hopefully more activity today.

I note that much of South Kerry won't have its electricity supply restored until around 1pm today. It went after 9pm last night.

Lots of loss of supply along the West coast in general. Counties Clare, Galway and Mayo having areas without supply at the moment.
