Wow, sounds like an impressive storm. I wouldn't have been running around the outside of the house no matter how exciting it was.

If it was about 2 degrees colder, we could all shout thundersnow!

Yeah but it's approx 300 miles off the coast. They all usually fizzle out once they make landfall. I'm waiting for the thundersnow tomorrow.

Probably sound like a noob asking this but is there a difference between normal snow and thundersnow? Apart from the thunder that comes with it

Heard the huge loud thunder clap but wasn't looking out the window so didn't see the lightning.

We took a hit here Sun night. Was a mad 20 mins. I saw the storm & timed 2 flashes to be <400m so rapidly unplugged everything (crest of a hill). Then stood outside to watch and it hit the turbine opposite me (600m) then a flash straight overhead. I ran around the house to car safety and another directly overhead - this one I thought hit the pole in the yard (on the other side of the house now but where I was standing a moment ago).
Eventually calmed down & went to bed. Woke the next morning & half the house has no power. Electricians coming over tonight.

Follow up - seems the pole in the back yard was hit & it blew the bio tank about 20ft from it. This being fried caused the house to trip & not come back on. All working now bar the fried tank.

A well formed, but small, Cb has developed over the Dublin/Wicklow mountains. Can even see some mammatus from here.

Sparks maybe in the west Wickow area in the next half hour or so?
