That narrow band of rain is over me for the past hour and I can safely confirm that its nothing close to being a squall line! A bit of drizzle on and off, the intensity is actually less than what the radar is suggesting

I was thinking the same ! Same here . Gave up watching it half an hour ago

    In the very south east.

A few nice rumbles to the southwest and sky getting darker. Looks like we are going to get the edge of the cells developing south of here..

Couple of cells approaching the southeast coast now producing lightning.

Looks like Wexford may see some action.

Any chance of Dublin seeing any action tonight?

Either the eastern edge of that system is growing in strength OR as it gets closer, radar is getting a better grasp of it.
I think the latter,as explode in 15 mins a cell does not do.

I would say it's unlikely, tomorrow is supposed to be the midlands and east's turn, but none of this has panned out like it was forecast so it's a bit of wait and see I'm afraid.

    Looks to be weakening though.

Agreed, the back edge of it seems to be fizzling out.

    Something's brewing.

I'm 50ks from the coast and there's a fair few seagulls after flying overhead.

More strikes confirmed out too sea behind the squall that's about to hit land, I don't think the radar has the full picture on this one yet.

Athlone has seen very little rain today just enough to keep the dust down.

Correct me if i'm wrong but I think those were strikes from about an hour ago but from the same cell?

The two closest ones are from the last 15 mins...

Some very dark clouds rolling into Waterford City now. Tramore in the distance looking ominous.

There seems to be a large cell heading straight for Tramore now, it had activity in it out to sea, not sure what it'll have once it hits land.

I am really really hoping those storms continue to grow and reach Arklow.
    Watering badly wanted.
Probably no such luck ,though generally when they are down over south Wexford with a trajectory like this system, they do waft up this way.

The next couple of days look promising for most of the country thunderstorm-wise, including here in the south if the RTÉ Weather forecast is anything to go by (courtesy of the bauld Gerry "Rain and Shleet" Murphy, who seems to have reappeared for the first time after 2 weeks of dry warm weather, surprise surprise :D)

Looks like you could be in with a shout, albeit a small one, Tramore looks like the place to be at the moment.
