There was some kind of a rumble in Cork City a while ago and the lights dimmed. However, I haven't seen any flashes.

"Heavy cell and heavy lightning" over the airfield. Aer Lingus gone into the hold now also.

Guys just saw a massive blue flash outside. You can smell the ozone in the living room from the garden . It's really intensifying here now.

The ESB's network monitoring system can sometimes give you a very good idea of where there's been recent serious lightening as it will trip things out.

    Live map:

It's literally live updated as faults come in on their SCADA system.

Sound travels at about 330 meters / second at sea level, so a kilometer = 1000/330 = almost exactly 3 seconds. A mile (1609 m) is just under 5 seconds (1650 m). The last one was about 12s = 4km away.

Death has this much to be said for it:
You don’t have to get out of bed for it.
    Wherever you happen to be
    They bring it to you—free.

Looks like things will be winding down soon? Cork storm is starting to weaken a bit and I don't see anything else further south than the cell passing over Dublin city now.

Mine too, went black for a whole second at one stage. No lightning around though, oddly enough.
