Only a slight risk I'd say, the main action this afternoon looks like setting up in Ulster.

Main areas of interest today is up through the Midlands and into Ulster

But as we have seen already showers in the East are well able to drop torrential rain so I wouldnt rule out Dublin getting some action

Dublin could easily get another thunderstorm, or a serious downpour, even in the next hour by the looks of things.

It's kicking off at that cell right on the border near Clones.

That storm northwest of Clones is very intense.

86 strikes in the past 30 mins, most of them in the past 20 minutes.

Precip rate is almost off the scale on the Netweather radar, 200mm/hr colours showing up, it must be hail.

Looks like it might kick off further south near Kells too.

Heavy rain in wicklow town now

thinks it safe to say the drought is over

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,134 ✭✭✭✭maquiladora

8 strikes in the past 10 minutes near Kells.

Can hear the Kells thunder in the distance, plenty of rumbling.

Heavy shower just east of Blessington heading for Dublin city shortly. It's not producing lightning but its grown a little stronger over the past 15 mins.

Edit : 1 strike detected over the mountains, looks to be weakening a little now though.

Rebuilding here, two rattles of thunder in 1 min.

It's looking good for Ulster this afteroon, though it might set up a little bit east of you there.

That storm approaching south Dublin appears reasonable strong.

Might get a few strikes out of it.
