    not so many flashes now and the only ones I'm seeing seem to be to the SSE out at sea.

    Lots of fireworks off at sea down south of us. About 5 per minute at the moment.

    My Twitter timeline is full of lightning tweets. Some reports from Dublin 5 and Dublin 16, maybe other parts of Dublin. I do think Dublin 22 has a force field around it :P

    Not sure the sferics down off the south coast are making much progress north.

    Showery troughs like that can sometimes flare up again on reaching the coast, esp when encountering some higher ground. This helps to give some extra 'lift' to cells.

    ALERT for locally heavy rainfalls and possible thunderstorms embedded, heaviest after midnight to about 0500h in south-central, southeast counties generally to the south of Cork-Meath, probably some road flooding will develop especially in flatter low-lying sections of the inland southeast. Potential for about 25 mm rain overnight in places.

    Reports of a tornado earlier this morning at Hayling Island, Hampshire, UK as a cluster of thunderstorms moved through - damage to cars, buildings, beach huts, trees etc
