The ESB came to my secondary school in 1980 showing a film about the work of the ESB, and how electricity was generated.

Must have worked because I joined them in 1981 as an apprentice.

Just wonder if anyone else remembers this.

Most here probably not even born then :)

Anyone know if the film is available on-line I can't find it on youtube.

Did they have electricity back then? :D:D:D

No, I don't remember it despite the fact that I am a child of the 60's.

But I did find this ESB add from the 1980's:

They don't make them like that any more (thankfully).

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rural_electrification#Ireland

Remote parts of Ireland only got connected about 10 years before that.

This film was more in the style of a documentary rather than a advert.

It was telephones that were not available everywhere in the 80's :)

I remember watching a video on electrical safety when I was in school.
I have some old videos on transmission line construction.
