Agreed, I've been looking for almost 2 months now and none of them seem to be moving. Just wondering am I mad paying 17K for a highish mileage 630, will I ever shift it again?

More of a chance than shifting the V8 models however. But I think you'd want to be buying it at 14k, not more.

I'm sure you've seen this already:

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/beautiful-bmw-335d-se/5228686

Spec wise it's not bad. Sunroof - iDrive etc. Or was it a M-Sport you were after?

People can hardly give away the V8's, the 3.0ltr is holding their values much better. For a 335d, was looking for M-Sport & iDrive/Sat Nav.

    I sold a 645ci 04 with 70k miles 2 years ago (so the equivalent of a 06 today) for less than 10k. 17k is lunacy for a 630i.

I'd still go for the V8 as it's the better value proposition, imo. Only the 650i though, not the 645.

You could upgrade the parts on the SE with Nav fairly easily:

    http://www.mstyle.co.uk/acatalog/info_B01BM033.html

Just need to dechrome it, and drop the suspension. Wheels would have to be changed also, but at least you have more options. Original Msport wheels are notoriously weak also, so no real biggie there.

You'd need to buy it for 11-12 to make it worth your while though.

The owner of blue facelift 2007 630i in my link is holding firm at 19K, what do you think is a realistic valuation?

If you plan on keeping it for 2 or 3 years no, you're not mad.

If it's just a phase you're going through and you might fall out of it in 6 months time, then yeah, you probably are a bit mad and you need to buy something more saleable.

The 650i is much less common and restricts the selection to high priced more recent examples though. The 645i (and all the BMW V8s really) is excellent in its own right.

    15k

A nice 2007 650i Cabrio sport sold on octane for 12k recently. Very well specced too, with adaptive cruise. I thought that was great value. O-ring with the X45 engine would worry me.

    But there isn't a hope of getting a 650i for 12k.

Sounds great value alright, but cabrio would be worth less. I'd be very surprised at any fresh example of a 650i coupe being sold for 12k.

Sounds like someone was stuck for money.

You'd nearly get that as a VRT rebate for exporting it, lol.

Yep, they'd make 13 or 14k sterling plus rebate!

    I don't agree.

    Here's the exact car:

    06, not 07. But still.

    06, not 07. But still.

Yep, my mistake. But you've got to admit, it's tremendous value.

Probably not as good as value as a 2005 750i sport that went for 6k recently. But that's a 7'er. Even less desirable by the (misguided- imo) public.

    Few points to consider...
He was in a rush to sell, as he was happy to just trade in for 11.5k sterling. Offers above that would be in the region of 13k euro, and it's an 06 rather than 07, and I do still think that a cabrio is less desirable than the coupe.
So I still think a clean 650i coupe is going to be hard to find for 12k unless you find someone who wants it gone.

If we were anyway clued in we'd be buying all these cars for when the Tax system changes and Motor tax becomes void which is very likely, in the next 12-18 months*

    *cough

Not after a convertible. Plan on keeping car 2-3 years. Would this be a better bet, i.e higher miles but is 6-7K cheaper than the 07 models currently on sale.

I was trying to find that one to link it. He's changed the pictures. It's been up for sale for awhile so I wouldn't be afraid of a cheeky offer.

The only thing I don't like are the tints on the rear lamps and rear windows, other than that it's a fine specimen with IMO the nicest 6er wheels.

Great spec and a great colour.

That represents way better value for money. Much less deprecation to worry about (The highest annual cost with the car).

Just to be pedantic :pac: Your point was that you wouldn't get a 650i (regardless of year or bodystyle) for 12k. I've shown you that you can.

Serious bargains are out there. But in the majority of cases you're not going to find them sitting in dealers forecourts, it'll be a private seller who needs to move it on, and doesn't have the luxury of sitting on stock waiting for a mug to come along.

Definitely. I reckon you might buy that for 10k if you really pushed.

I bought it and it was 13k , just serviced with 4 new tyres and 5 months tax aswell (and detailed and then valeted before collection) :) , He just wanted a quick sale so I got a bargain , Really nice chap to deal with . 1800 for a years tax is worth it every time it fires up :D and 25 mpg is deadly for a 4.8 V8 (IMO) , ive put up just over 15k kms in the 4 months ive had it.

I reckon the 6 series is a bit like those older mercedes SL's they transcend the reg plate madness.
Plus those large N/A Engines should mean fewer problems.

well wear. what did you use to get it cleaned? im looking for a good shine off mine, just waiting for the weather to hold up. only have autoglym clean, need other products, unsure what to use. (have microfibre towels and 2 bucket method).

Head over to detailingshed.com and pick up a few pieces.
Autoglym HD wax --really excellent and lasts for months.

Get a foam lance/with cherry orange, clay it and wax it afterwards./..the shine is incredible and lasts :)

€17.5 with full warranty and 5 months tax. I really struggled to find a well spec'd car, well minded car. Definitely not a bargain but I'm delighted with the condition of the car.

been thinking myself the last 2 weeks
she doesnt want to drive my estate though even though its newer than her own car
A nice 630i like CountingCrows would be just what I'm after

Although my preference would be a manual with the darker interior as I could see that cream interior get wrecked with my kids in the space of a week

Very happy with it. Got a new battery and software update under warranty, nothing else to report yet. Don't think they have any major common problems to watch out for. That said I wouldn't even view one without a full service history.

Big change coming from a GTI. The size, particularly the length took some getting used too. Interior is a lovely place to be, spacious and very quiet. There is tons of power but its very much a cruiser. Obviously fuel economy isn't great but again coming from the GTI not much of a change. I love the fact there quite a rare car.
