Same as. If I had not pre booked in Gamestop . I'd get it for 35 on amazon for sure

65 euro for a game is madness alright. I wouldnt buy anything from gamestop, except when they have offers on - which can be very good. I got GTAV preordered for 28euro thanks to their last one

In store I imagine. Out of curiosity I asked the price instore awhile back and was quoted €64.99. Online is ways a few euro cheaper.

    confirmed...65 quid instore, 60 online....ripoff

If you bothered to read all my post I already confirmed the instore price of €65. No one is forcing anyone to pay that and anyone who prepaid for it is a moron.

i dont mind paying the 65euro,for a start i will get the game on day of release, plus how many hours am i going to get playing the game for that 65euro?
sure tickets to watch ireland in the soccer are the same price for a lot of seats.

i am paying 65 in-store......so guess that makes me a moron, but you already think that :)

Considering that it's £35 on amazon then yes, if you're paying €65 you're a moron. If it was me I'd be going in and using my preorder credit to pick up a few other things and then order off of amazon using parcel motel.

With parcel motel you'll have a day or so after release and tbh I'd happily wait a day or three if it meant that I had saved 25 or so euro.

They got the 2 Games & €10 deal with it but the last time I checked that list Gamestop were doing their homework no more Black Ops 1 + Sherlock Holmes for BioShock Infinite in sight
    :(

I pre-ordered from amazon.co.uk a few hours ago. Worked out at just under 45 Euro......... :-) Happy to wait a few days after release with such a large saving!

Normally, i wouldn't dream of paying 65 for a standard game. But this is GTA V, and i'm getting it on Monday at midnight. I have leave taken at work and don't have to be back until 25/09. I have nothing else planned. That 65 will literally keep me entertained for an entire week (minus 6 hours a day sleep), and many more beyond that.

Sure, i might have got it cheaper in Xtra-Vision, Tesco, wherever, and still got it at midnight, but the GameStop staff in Waterford are brilliant, and we usually end up getting free Pizza. I might be paying €65, but i'm getting way more than what it's worth! (Even if most of the profit is going to GameStop - they're a business, of course they're going to capatalise on a sure-thing!).

let none of you ever complain again about the price of games in bricks and mortar stores then so

I wonder if all blind gamestop bashers live on some pink cloud, which says " Me! Me! And only Me!!!!".
You do realise that RRP is still 65eu, right? That is set by publisher, not retailer. Retailers takes pennies of that price tag. So any cut they will make on RRP it will be their part cut, not publishers. If retailer wants to stay alive, it needs to make money. It's not there to do you a favour, it's there to do business.
Just because Irish gamers got so used to price war in games shops, does not mean that we are entitled to bog low prices. We all sow how this ended up, stores closed down, staff let go.
If you want to bark at someone due to high game prices, then bark at publishers and their big RRP tags, which they refuse to lower point blank. so why no one is barking at retailers for selling ps4/xbox one for retail price? Surely gamestop should sell them cheaper at the loss!

And you know what, in the end of the day, you choose where to buy, that's a beauty of free market. Don't like gamestop price? Go buy it in Tesco. Done. I love my gamestop, but I got my copy preordered on Amazon. I would love to get it day one in local gamestop, but I am broke. So I take alternative cheaper version, but with delay.

im just going to wait until it's on a humble bundle

i might get it on a steam sale if it's 75% off, but i don't know if it'd be worth a tenner really.

Diffrent things work for diffrent people , for me 65 euro up front is something i'd never be able to afford but because i pre ordered 3 months ago i can go in weekly and pay off whatever i can afford , have the 65 comfortably covered at this stage and i get my game midnight monday can't complain really

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,788 ✭✭✭✭krudler

I don't think 65 quid for hundreds upon hundreds of hours of gameplay is that much, it's a night on the beer really. You get an absolute ton of value for money on games like this. Like cinema prices, I went to see Riddick the other night, cost me 20 bucks between the ticket, a drink, popcorn and sweets, and the film was sh1te, that's a third of the cost of GTAV and I'll still (hopefully) be playing that for months to come.

gamestop will pay nowhere near that go buy in the copies of the game. I worked in an independent store when part IV came out and we were selling it for cheaper than gamestop even though we were paying more for each copy. Gamestop will be bulking buy thousands and thousands of copies and as such will get a furthur discount on the stock. They could easily sell the game for less and make a profit, but like they've been doing for years gamestop are happy to charge the absolutely most that they can get away with. This is afterall the same store that charged €60 for Deadly Premonition, a game whose PS3 release was at a budget price.

  • Registered Users Posts: 82 ✭✭Azza89

Gamestop have a trade-in deal of 9.99 with 2 trade-in games. If you have a bit of time get the list from the store and then go look for pre-owned games.

The likes of battleship is on that list and can be picked up cheap enough. You can easily save €20 on the cost of the game if you can find 2 games on the list.

No PC release has been announced yet. Could be months before it's even announced let alone released. PS3 or 360 only for now.

Most other businesses try and stay competitive and attract customers in whereas gamestop have in recent times started to give two fingers to customers by charging well above rrp for many titles. They're also not above lieing to customers in order to shift some product.

+1...i have seen + overheard staff in William St. Limerick do this, several times....the staff are rude and clueless, especially the girls who have ZERO interest in gaming or being there.

The manager of Gamestop Parkway SC is a top lad! :) - a real gamer, he has every console + handheld...he'll often chat away with you for 30 mins just talking gaming or consoles and knows his stuff.

But overall, yes...Gamestop are rippoff merchants in every area of their business

It looks pretty massive. Hope the areas outside the city are more lively then in San Andreas though, as that was quite boring at times. I do look forward to exploring though.

I've just been reading up on this today - am I right in saying nobody will be able to play online until October 1st?

'Grand Theft Auto Online' has 500 missions, takes place after campaign

Grand Theft Auto Online contains more than 500 missions and takes place after the events of the main campaign, it has been revealed.

The aim of GTA Online is to make money and accumulate assets such as cars and property, although there's no definitive conclusion

Some of the 500+ missions can be completed solo, while others require a team, with players able to call for backup from biker gangs and airstrikes from security firms, and receive other technological perks by befriending criminal figures.

    http://www.digitalspy.ie/gaming/news/a514564/grand-theft-auto-online-has-500-missions-takes-place-after-campaign.html

It'll take quite some time to complete this game.

Same here. Even in real life I'll be thinking about things to do in GTA. I'll be walking past cars thinking of pressing triangle. And PES 2014 is released 3 days later. Dear lord.

Heard that online starts before the events of the single player game rather than after.

I'm really excited for the online aspect of this game. If the stock-exchange system and cash systems are as detailed as they're hinting it could be really cool to do things your own way. I was thinking of investing stock in train transportation system and then bombing up a lot of planes in the airports, nobody going by plane anymore and my stock would hit the roof (I think).

I'm also thinking of setting up a team to solely intercept and take down other teams while they're performing heists so we can steal their loot. All the money and only a fraction of the heat. Guess I'll be glued to the in-game TV waiting for news choppers to show me what routes they're taking :P

Ah man, so hyped. Getting PS3 version and game-sharing it online with someone else to save money.

I don't think anyone is saying that the game isn't worth €65... the point people are making is it's available for considerably less. The debate is about how much extra are you willing to pay to get the game at midnight next Monday. So, let me throw an example at you... if it was for sale for €25 on Amazon, and you were guaranteed to get it Thursday morning, would you still be buying from Gamestop for €65? Would you pay an extra €40 for 2 days play?

I bought from Amazon for €42.63 delivered... €22.37 is my lunch for 2 weeks in work.
