Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Gritting the Road - Roundwood to Laragh

Just a heads up to all heading out on the Wicklow roads in the next couple of days.

There are gritting the road - R755 - between Roundwood and Laragh. Today (Hot Tuesday) its been mostly around Annamoe and Balinacorbeg.

Its the usual lethal practice of spraying down wet tar and scattering chippings on top. No effort to pack them down or clear away the loose gravel. No effort to fill in any of the pot holes either.

    Take care!

I swear they do it to annoy us.....maybe if we all stop frequenting their tea rooms for a while they might actually miss our custom.....;)

I had a sideways moment myself in those bends coming in to Anamoe. Fair play I meant to post but forgot. I heard the tar was melting!

Was there any warning signage or is that too much to ask....???

I think there was some after I had a little slide, did not notice any before - there should be fair warning

Gritting is what they do in frosty weather. This is loose chippings.

They went totally overboard with the grit in Dublin city centre last winter. Ever since there was a shortage a couple of years ago, it's as if they have to prove there's now tons of the stuff to go around. The weather wasn't really cold enough to warrant it and it's a waste on busy roads where the traffic will melt a bit of frost anyway. It's rarely used roads like estates that freeze up, but they don't get gritted anyway. It's a waste of money, it pollutes the environment and it corrodes the f*** out of your bike :(

    Scrap the cap!
