No it seems to be entirely separate from the reflux. Neutrophils can drop from a viral infection, especially when her white cell count is low too. The problem is is that she got her bcg and got pneumonia, she got her two month vaccinations and got a pretty bad viral infection and got her 4 month vaccinations and has landed back in hospital too. So she seems to get overloaded and can't fight anything off. It's not the vaccinations fault either, but we are going to have to wait and see about the 6 month ones. Doc is thinking about what to do and is going to be speaking to someone else about it too.

It's so hard because C needs me at home, S needs me here.

    How is S now ?!

I was reading that at 5 months babies should be drinking 5 bottles in 24 hours .. Little N takes 6-7 bottles ! How many are your guys taking ?!

Hope things are going ok cyning.

Six bottles a day here, 5 or 6 oz max. I've started giving her some finger food, because she is screaming blue murder at the dinner table if she doesn't get to participate. Not gotten to spoon feeding yet. i think she still has the tongue thrush reflex.

She started doing an odd thing on the play mat this morning. Rolled all the way off it onto the tile floor, then onto her side, and then spun herself around in a circle a few times with her heels. Like a tiny breakdancer.

3 weeks left til I'm back to work. Where the heck did that summer go!

Did piles of negotiating, but no joy on any kind of shorter day or wk for the first few months. Very weak position coming off a 6 month gap, nothing to bargain with. Good that everything is so busy, and can't complain when so many people can't get jobs at all, but it would have been nice.. Creche will be costing me a small fortune. 1400 euro per month for the two of them on half days, and that's including the ecce. Thank goodness my mum can take them in the afternoons. i'll be zonked too. She still isn't really going through the night. She doesn't take a feed, but she wakes up looking for some kind of interaction.

Oh pwurple that did fly. L is having 4 , 7-8 oz bottles . He goes to bed at 7ish and we give him a dream feed at 10.30 . He drinks 8- 8 1/2 oz but i find hes not bothered with morning bottle lately. Im thinking if trying to drop 10.30 bottle and see will he drink morning bottle. Past 3 days he's only drinkibg bout 3 oz in morning. Maybe its teeth though. They are very nearly through.
He keeps waking for soother about 5 and its driving us up the wall. I know it will be a while yet but what age will they find it themselves. A is a thumb sucker so never had this.

I used to put loads of soothers in the cot... 8 or 9 of them. Eventually she would pick up one!

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,251 ✭✭✭cyning

S is ok, she has picked up another cold to my disgust! She's also a real drooler these days and is making attempts at crawling: she can roll her way where ever she wants but she's starting to pull up to crawling now :) back with the paediatrician next week so will see where to go from there.

Haven't started solids yet she's only just 5 months since Tues so another few weeks and we will see: she has zilch interest really!

Can't believe she weighs a full 6 pounds less at 5 months than her big sister!!

My 6 month old dosnt seem to know how to use his legs lol! Ive been trying to practice his 'standing' but he just bends his knees instantly. Anyone know of any other exercises to strengthen his legs?

He spins himself in a circle using his arms. but will only do it clockwise! if i put a toy to his left he does full circle to get it. He can also roll from his tummy to his back but has zero interest in trying to get from his back to his front.

Do some babies just skip the rolling? Is it bad? He kicks out a lot with his arms and legs when hes on his tummy. thx!

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,251 ✭✭✭cyning

I think they just do everything at there own pace: my first little last was walking at ten months but obviously that's early. I really wouldn't worry :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,816 ✭✭✭Suucee

My 4.5 mnth old isnt rolling but can sit up on his own. Hes still not steady enough to leave but i put cushion around him in travel cot or i would sit with him on the floor. Absolutely no interest in rolling though. Still hates tummy time and when on his back he just lies there.

Pwurple i dont think he'd be able to find one and get it in just yet but an idea for future. If hes in bouncer he picks it uo but cant get it in the right way. He's a right soother monster. Always has it.

I was told a long time ago, they walk with their brains, not with their legs... No amount of exercises does it really, they just want to, and try to do it until they can.

Forgot to ask. What way are ye'r lil ones napping. L goes to bed 7 ish. was getting dream feed at 10.30 but wasnt awake (going to try cut that out tonight) wakes about 5 for soother then sleeps until 7ish when OH alarm goes off. He then goes for a nap about 9-10 (approx) 11.45- 1.30 (again approx) by 3.30 he's tired but wont give in he has to be rocked. if im out and he's in the sling i need to rock/bounce him, if he's in the pram i again need to push it and at home in his cot i nearly need to rock him. He gets so worked up but he's wrecked tired. all his other naps and even night time we just pop him down give him his soother and thats it. but the 3.30/4 nap he just cant wind down.

My little guy will not roll from tummy to back but when lying flat on his back he will scoot around ha ha he will sit for a minute or so on his own , sits great in highchair and bumbo thing that someone gave us ! He has a little tooth starting to show ! He naps at 8.45 am - 10.00 am then has a cat nap around half 12 - half 1 ! Some days no nap at all !

My LO has no real routine! I'm finding it really hard to get her into one because of Tom. By this stage i had Tom in a brilliant routine but I'm just all out of kilter!

She could wake at 5am and then sleep till 8.30 or 9am. Then she will prob sleep for an hour around 10.30 or 12 when were out. I've been trying to get her o take a nap around 1.30 them past couple days for an hr or 2. The. She'll be up till bedtime which had been 9pm te last few nights. If she wakes up between 2 and 4am (instead of 5) she will wake for an hr but then wake between 7-8am and might take a little cat nap in my bed for a few minutes before we go downstairs. Routine is just all over the place!

Same naps as those here succee... Nap at 9:30ish, 12:30ish and 3:30ish.

She's fighting them all except the first one. Sleeps best in the buggy, so lots of walkies for me at those times.

That was the exact routine I had Thomas in at this age. Was great! Such peace for those 3 naps!

Oh sligo im confused just reading that. Im sure you'll get sorted soon.

So didnt do the dream feed. He woke at 11.15pm but seemed to be teeth. I gave him teetha and soother and he then slept until his usual 5 am for the soother again then slept again until 6.30 and then emptied 8oz bottle maaybe would have drank more. So going to cut out the 10.30 dream feed. Will mean were down to 3 bottles a day now.

We have a kind of routine. He does a morning nap an lunch time sleep and an afternoon nap. All of them he does on my tummy. He sleeps at night without any trouble in his cot just have to hold his hand sometimes but thats all. Dont know why he cant do it during the day but at least I have lots of time to read or do stuff on the laptop.
He is not interested in crawling at all but he can stand he just hold on my hands for balance and he loves it. If he is grumpy I just put him on his two feet and he is delighted I guess he will walk and skip the crawling. He rolls o the side but thats it. And he can move around on his back but I have no clue how he does it as he is only doing it when I am not looking. I put him down and go to the kitchen and when I come back he is of his play blanked. He can sit up but needs me for balance or something like the couch on his back.

Anyone's sex drive plummeted since they gave birth? I just have no interest at all (which is unlike me)... Poor hubby... :(.. I feel like an auld maid!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 282 ✭✭Siipina

mhh yeah its definitely not like it before but it might be the two big blue eyes from the cot looking at us and the bloody tiredness
I am wrecked but I cant sleep, not only that I am awake the moment LO makes a piep its as well that I can fall asleep anymore. Dont know why.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,816 ✭✭✭Suucee

Yea kind of but i think with me its more fear. After the tear and then the infection and the stiches bursting im terrified. We have DTD once but i was shaking like a leaf. But OH is so understanding. Doctors have told me to wait until L is 6 months before they will know if i need repairing but wont know until i use it so to speak.

If anyone has an excuse suucee it's you! I have NO excuse. Maybe it's just coz I'm wrecked and doing the night feeds and stuff... Physically I'm fine...

Suucee its so great that you have such a great partner, that helps a lot. But uhhh I cross my legs as well just with the thought of it and all you went through. I had only stitches and all fine but was scared ****less the first few times.
Sligo I am sure its just being so tired. :-)

Succee I had tear, infection and bursting stitches on my first, so I know exactly what you mean. Was v painful, and when we started trying it was difficult, like a physical block. That turned out to be prolapsed bladder. It all got better, talked to gp about it, saw a couple of specialists and got it sorted.

There's other stuff you can be getting up to in the meantime... Just avoid anything that hurts.

I've got the insomnia thing atm. Hanging with the tiredness, but waking, bolt upright in the middle of the night and cannot get back to sleep. Trying camomile tea this evening, while watching countdown. Oh what an exciting saturday night. :)

Lil man is on his first antibiotic. And im a nervous wreck as daughter is allergic to penicillin .
Hes been waking alot at night and been bit off but had been putting it down to sleep regression and teething.
Was on docs yesterday with toddler for check up so got her to check ovet him.
Has sore throat and ears and snotty nose but agreed we could hold off on antibiotic but wanted a urine sample.
So i got that and dropped it in this morning and they rang me to bribg him back in. He had become worse but was blocked nose and bit hoarse sounding so glad to be going back.
His urine is showing infection so have started on antibiotic will help with ears and throat too.
Due to his age they are sending the sample to be assessed further and may need to be reffered to hospital pead. But in with het wens for his flat head so they said they could give me a letter.
My poor wee man. Mammy feeling bit crap too from lack of sleep and worry.
Actually feeling lil sick. . :-(

Aww, poor little thing. Both mine are sniffling today alright, start of the winter seasonal things now I suppose. Boo.

Little lady is looking for food Big Time. Grabbed a slice of pizza off my plate yesterday and nearly ate the whole thing bit by bit.

Getting nervous about settling her into creche. She has started making noise if I leave a room without her.

Suuccee my little lady had a kidney infection the time she had the pneumonia too... And she was only 5 weeks! They scanned her kidneys but all was ok. Just one of those things.

I'm officially over colds, snot etc. I am literally too afraid to bring S to a play centre so that C can go run around in case she picks up something. I cannot wait until she is 6 months to do this bloody test to make sure everything's ok.
