Not quite correct. The judge had delayed sentencing (and it was not a prison sentence) until October before the defendant informed her it was his birthday on Oct 28th

This is scary stuff, everyone involved could see this person needed help and was a danger to others, yet the system completely failed to provide it. I cant imagine how difficult it must be to be a family member of someone you know is a danger to society and not only be powerless to do anything about it yourself but to watch the people meant to help do the opposite.

The family could have asked him to be assessed.
